A/N: Listen to the song in the link~~
~~~Same bed, but it feels just a little bit bigger now
Our song on the radio, but it don't sound the same
When our friends talk about you all that it does is just tear me down
‘Cause my heart breaks a little when I hear your name
It all just sounds like oh, oh, ohh
Levi walked into the living room, staggering slightly with a half empty bottle of whiskey in his hand.
He put the bottle down on the coffee table, and sat on the couch, his face pressed into his palms as he hunched forward.
He thought he was over her.
It had been over two years since she left. Two years he had been alone, waking up only to see the empty side of the bed she used to occupy; and when he returned home, he was greeted with silence instead of her beautiful voice.
[Name]…Mmm, too young, too dumb to realize
That I should’ve bought you flowers and held your hand
Should’ve gave you all my hours when I had the chance
Take you to every party ‘cause all you wanted to do was dance
Now my baby’s dancing, but she's dancing with another man
“Shorty~! You’re late!” A voice cried out as the door of his apartment burst open.
“Erwin sent me up to get you since you’re taking such a long tim…” Hanji trailed off when she saw the look on Levi’s face as he straightened his cravat. His skin was paler than usual, dark circles beneath his hooded eyes, his expression darker than ever before.
Grabbing his blazer, which was slung on the arm of the couch, he brushed passed Hanji and walked out of the door, saying quietly, “lets go.”
No insults, no name-calling, no cursing. Something that was rare for Levi, even when he was in the happiest of moods.
“You alright?” The brunette asked, worriedly looking down at him as they entered the elevator.
Sparing her a short glance, he sighed. “I’m fine…”
“This is about [Name] isn’t it? You haven’t seen her in such a long time after all and-“
“Hanji,” He cut her off, “please. Just drop it.”
With a small nod, Hanji remained quiet for her best friend. But she knew he wasn’t all right. The pained look in his eye when [Name]’s name was mentioned didn’t escape her observant eye.My pride, my ego, my needs and my selfish ways
Caused a good strong woman like you to walk out my life
Now I never, never get to clean up the mess I made, oh
And it haunts me every time I close my eyes
It all just sounds like oh, oh, ohh
”So you’re just going to walk out on me?!” He shouted, when he saw her stuff all packed in a suitcase, getting ready to leave the apartment.
“I can’t do this anymore, Levi…” [Name] whispered, tears filling up her eyes, “you’re never here for me whenever I need you. You’re rarely even home! And those times that you are, you barely even talk to me…”
“Tch. I’m working my ass off so that we can live comfortably! You know that!”
“I know Levi… But what I want isn’t money… its you… I miss all those times we spent together, the movie nights, the cuddling, cleaning together, even our bickering! I want those times back…”
Clenching his jaw, he looked at her with his cold grey eyes, “You want all of that back, and yet you’re leaving?
“I’m just… I-I think we both need a short break from each other…”
“Don’t bother.” He deadpanned, “if you’re going to walk out right now, don’t bother coming back.”
“Levi…” Her voice was strained, a torn expression on her face; her eyes silently pleading for him to understand.
“Leave.”
With one last glance over her shoulder, she left.
Her tear-streaked face before she walked away from him still haunted his dreams, and he wished he didn’t let his pride take over. He wished he could turn back the clock, and beg for her forgiveness and for her to stay.
In his entire life, that was the day he regretted the most.
