CHAPTER-19

Revelations

We stepped out of the car,Stefan got off first and then he helped me to getout.I followed him upto the gate,where he intertwined his fingers around mine.That feeling was so strange and I never had it before,for a moment I thought I was the most secured person in the world and no force in this world would harm me as he would be there to hold my hand to get me out of any darkness.I felt utterly confident,never did I feel so much empowered before.Though the media and photographers were continuosly flashing on us,I didn't give a damn.I thought I would freak out totally but instead I walked with confidence.Thanks to Stefan that he didn't stop anywhere on the carpet as his guards made sure that the reportes couldn't reach us.

We entered the hall ,still holding hands.The room was dark with changing lights,there was a stage in the centre where someone was dancing and at the edge there was a bar counter.Chairs and round tables were placed in front of the stage and as I turned around I could see the most eminent people from around the world-dancers,singers, musicians,artists,writters,poets,actors.I stood there totally lost and gaping at the classy atmosphere around me.For a moment I was grateful for being there in such an event full of talented people,I wanted to meet those who I had known already.

"I thought it was going to be a club or something but things are different here",I said when I finally got out of that trance and turned to Stefan.

"Yes we are gonna party after a couple of speeches and after we donate to the fundraiser campaign for which this event is being held",he said grabbing his seat."Come sit".

"I didn't know that it was a fundraiser",I said.
"Thanks for choosing me Stefan,I'm really liking it here among such talented people around me",I said holding his palm."Do you know anyone,any friends?"

"Yes,quite a lot actually.I know most of the singers and a few actors and that lady over there is my ex,I had no idea that she would here",he said looking towards his former gf who sat rigjt in front of him but she didn't notice us.She was the most graceful lady I have ever seen dressed in a white gown,with blonde hair she looked so cute.Her and Stefan would make a great pair if they were together.

"Oh.Wow",I didn't know how to react or may be I didn't want to react as long as everything is fine.

"Shut up.I didn't want her here anyways,okay just ignore her if she happens to approach you",he said as he sipped water from his glass while his gaze was fixed at his ex.

"Okay but I don't wanna hurt you or something but she is most beautiful girl I have ever seen",I tried to tease him.

"Anybody can look pretty under loads of makeup",he said finally turning his gaze away from her and then I decided to stop discussing it any further.

"Look,she is Mary Parker right?Omg,I have looked up to her always.I have read all her books..... literally all the 286 books that she has written so far",I stood up and turned towards her.Shocked.

"I happen to know her,I have read her books too and so if you want,you can have a little intro with her",he said and I almost jumped out of delight but then refrained so as not to draw too much attention.

After the speeches and the campaign event,we finally got up from her seats and they headed us towards the club.Stefan had to go to the restroom so I walked in alone.I tripped over something and accidentally bumped into someone.....Anna Richardson,his ex.

"Ohh hye,I happen to recognise you",she said in a husky voice trying to sound funny.

"And who doesn't recognise you ma'am?",I tried to sound polite.

"I recognise you as a girl who fell in love with the wrong guy and it's fine unless you don't get addicted to his charms", she said looking intensly into my eyes which scared the shit out of me.

"Excuse me....I can't....

"I get it,you are young,pretty and innocent easily drawn towards him and he is a devilishly oversmart guy so I'm just shedding you some enlightenment.....Be smart and careful around him",then she left leaving me into pieces.

How am I supposed to react now?
I'm not his girlfriend and I'm never going to be.As far as I know him,he is good ,he saved my life then what is this supposed to mean?I was never so confused in my life,I called my bestie to seek some advice.

I explained her the whole scenario and she suggested that I should talk to him about this and ask him the actual reason of their break up.
"She warned you,she is not just any other person,she is Anna one of the best actors and models and definitely more experienced than you,what if she is actually right?Be careful kriti and just ask him directly without any hesitation and don't get too close with him",Geet said.

"I won't ,don't worry.I'm hanging up",I disconnected the call.

I sat at the counter,when I saw him approaching me and my heart was pounding louder than usual.

"Let's dance,come on",he insisted.

"No I don't feel like and I think you should go meet your friends",I suggested.

"And then what,you'll be sitting here alone drinking water?You are coming too",and the next moment I was on my feet and held his arm and followed him.

"Someone is back from the oblivion.....I thought you were gone permanently but got a nice come back huh?",said a gentleman who appeared out of nowhere and blocked our path.He was not polite by the look on his face.

"Well there is still time for me to be permanently gone so you shouldn't worry about that and thanks btw for appreciating my work",Stefan retorted politely.

"Man you are lucky,you never run out of girls...got an indian this time?",I don't know for some reason I was hating this stranger celebrity for his sheer lack of politeness.

"I have been lucky.Always."
"Sweet heart I think we should go",he said addressing me and for a moment I looked around if there was another person whom he called sweet heart.

"Seriously?",I chuckled as we were past that man.

"He was being a dick and I needed to get out",he said rolling his eyes.

"Yeah!he was so rude.... how do you manage such people?He said oblivion...like seriously?What does he think of himself?",I said totally surprised.

"The industry is full of such people who only look for one moment to drag you down,but you gotta stand tall and face them....well that's  what my mom says",he said as we walked further.
Stefan introduced me to some of the singers and all of them were cool and Stefan was himself around them.They had this competition of who is gonna get more drunk in 5 minutes,Stefan refused to get buzzed but we stayed there watched until they finished.

A lady suddenly appeared and grabbed Stefan's hand,"Where were you this entire time?"

"In the oblivion",he answered bluntly.

"Don't say that,you were missed.....and you missed being in the news with Anna right?No controversies for one whole year",she said and chuckled.

That's it I couldn't take it anymore.Well,this is happening for the fifth time.These so called celebs are so rude and blunt,they were hurting Stefan multiple times by mentioning Anna.

"Excuse me ma'am,I think an artist requires both time and space in order to perform his work with utmost satisfaction and have a greater come back which is clearly what Stefan has done",I retorted politely.

"Yeah you are right",she said and left.

"That was not needed Kritika,you better don't get involved in all this",he said turning towards me.

"That was required Stefan,you must have really got tierd answering pointless vague questions".

"Do you think the same as what you answered to that lady?",he asked.

"I don't know.....but it was your choice to go missing for a year and I think they should respect that".
