CHAPTER-26

He remembers you

We were in our hotel room next,I was having a hard time trying to sleep.I opened youtube and found one of old Stefan's auditions in recommendations.He was a young boy then, probably 16.He looked cute and innocent.I immediately played the video.When he got selected for the show by the judges,he said "thank you" and walked away.He ended it that simple.There was neither excitement for being selected nor there was any nervousness.He came,he sang and walked away.If there were me in his place,I would have danced,jumped and cried on stage.How is it humanly possible to not react in that moment?

After he left India,I never stalked him on any social media platform,I never had the time to do it since I was always busy, engaged in my own work.This baby Stefan's audition looked so funny,he looked funny with clear skin without tatoos and a wierd haircut..almost bald.I rewatched it,and ended up laughing like literally ROFL.I didn't realize when I fell asleep watching fetus Stefan.

It was 9 in the morning when my phone rang and the next moment,I was up.

"Hey Kritika,Violet here".

"Hey Violet!",I said yawning still sleepy.

"You abruptly left last night, anything wrong?", she asked out of concern.

"Yes after learning about your brother and that bitch Sarika, that was the best thing I could do",I wanted to say but instead,"I ended up destroying my dress so I had to leave,I'm sorry Violet.

"Ohh. That's fine. You said you would come shopping with me. Remember? We have got this bachelor's party today...incase you missed to check the dates on invitation,so we have sangeet today and then bachelor's party at night,take me shopping please."

"Actually we have other plans today",I started making excuses.

"Anyways you are gonna attend sangeet,I suppose ,so why don't you shop for yourself too for the wedding day?",she said.

"I'm leaving to India tommorow",and I lied to her in the worst possible way.

"Is it?Then you owe me this,you are taking me shopping and I will be there in 30 minutes.Get ready.Bye",she hung up.

Fuck.

"Dumbass",Geet mocked at me and yes I deserved it.

30 minutes later,

I was ready.I didn't take my bath because I felt too lazy to move my ass into the bathroom so I dressed quickly in a white tight little skirt and black crop top.I combed my hair and wore a black headband and I think I looked like a high school girl in that outfit.

Knock.Knock.

"Kriiii",Violet and April hugged me collectively.
We were in their lavish BMW the next moment.

"I wonder why I'm here with you guys right now"after a lot of negotiation with my own head I wanted to speak out and tell them to let me go back and that I'm not going to be part in any wedding ceremonies."I mean why me?You guys could have brought somebody else to help you may be Sarika,I'm sure she has a good taste",I made a sarcastic remark emphasizing on the word taste.

"But you are the best",said April instantly.

"Shut up!you don't even know me",I retorted.

"That's what Stefan says and that's all we know about you and he says you have the best choice in clothes",said Violet with a puzzled face.

"Ohh.Wow!he remembers me,I thought he would never have  had acknowledged my existence after leaving India",I said in despair.

"Well.... then you are wrong because Stefan talks a lot about you by which we presume that he is in love with you",her tone slowed down at the word love as if she is unsure of what she said.

"Love?We never had a thing",I said.

"I know you guys never had that perspective but  looking at the way he talks about you,one can assume that.He never tells about his girlfriends or relationships or flings but trust me he has spoken great things about you a million times",April tried to convince me.

"And what does he speak about me?We literally hung out for like 10 days" ,I throw them a fake laughter.
"He hardly knows anything about me to talk about it a million times",I smirked."And once we are done with this shopping thing,let me go and yes don't you know about Sarika and him?Didn't he tell you?Oh yes he doesn't tell you about his girlfriends.Let me throw some light on this subject,Sarika who happens to be my old school mate and also a bitch is into your brother and he apparently gifted her a beautiful jaw dropping dress."

"He didn't tell us but it's pretty evident",said April.

"See,I told you", I retort.

"Okay that doesn't mean that he loves her or he doesn't love you.She is just an other fling and nothing else",violet  said.

"It's pretty evident that he loves you Kritika",April spoke as if trying to complete her previous statement.

"We never had...

"Then why are you so jealous about Sarika and him being together?",Violet asked putting an angry face."You are in denail."

"What?I'm not jealous about anything and especially I can't be jealous of someone like Sarika.She doesn't deserve my attention.I'm angry at your brother and right now that's the only emotion I have towards him and sorry if I acted rude and stupid and bitchy.You girls didn't deserve this,please forgive me."

"I can assure you that Sarika is not permanent",Violet spoke trying to।console.

"She shouldn't be,Stefan deserves someone better someone as beautiful and intelligent as umm....ummm Anna.I don't know why they broke up but he deserves a woman equal to her standards.

"Speak of the devil",April said smirking."My brother deserves someone like you Kritika and definitely not Anna.Please don't mention her hereafter,she is the most selfish woman I have known ever and please ....please don't ever wish something like that,it'll ruin Stefan completly."

"I'm so sorry.I shouldn't have spoken that way",I appologize.

"Kritika,it's visible on your face how much you are into my brother and how much you love him.Stop pretending,it doesn't suit you",Violet said.

"Though I didn't watch you guys when you were together,I can say that he was different around you.Somehow.",April said smiling stupidly.

"He literally praises your cooking everyday and you know what he forces mom to make idlis and parathas and when she doesn't make it so perfect,he starts boasting your cooking skills and what you call that drink....lassi?
Yes and that,he learnt it's receipe and makes it for himself and us.
He always says that you have the best choice in clothes and he loves your red and black suit and he bought me one resembling that and I'm gonna wear it on the wedding day.You remember that you gifted him some kurtas?He is gonna wear one of them on Isabella's wedding.Though he can buy new ones,designer ones,he for some reason wants to wear the ones you gifted him.
And he wants me to be like you and pursue journalism .... criminal journalism and be as passionate as you are and so particular about your work and he did tell us about that messed up interview and then how you ended up in men's washroom and then finally apologized him for those vague questions you asked him.He also spoke of how you were the only person  to defend him and genuinely understand him when people criticized and taunted him at that party.He told us everything and he had never done it before and then it should mean that you are special to him and he is in love with you madly",Violet spoke and blew me into surprise.

"As far as I know him,Stefan won't come to you,he would keep his distance.He has made this decision to stay away and that's why he is never showing up to you.It's quite evident and he has always been like that and that's why he is isolating himself from you.He has done this before,he isolated himself quite a lot times from us because he believed that he is not good enough for us.All this means that you must be the first one to break the ice because Stefan is not going to do it.Trust me.Give it a shot",April said.
