A weight's been lifted off my shoulders ever since I decided to let go of my search. It proved to be a futile process. It's like my dad's past has been buried to never resurface. I just let dead dogs lie.

Jordan and I are back to good terms again. I obviously had to lie my way out of that one. I'm just glad everything turned out okay because he's literally my only friend. I'm not good at making friends.

Things at the Zulu household are back to normal without the suspicions. My mom and myself are watching a movie. It's a Friday night and as always it's girls night. My dad is away on business whilst my grandmother went back to the villages. She's mostly here but she likes to go back and check on her farm once in a while.

My mom and I are watching one of Tyler Perry's movies ; Acrimony. We've watched that movie a thousand times but we still can't get enough. Snacks are in abundance and we're just having too much fun. My mom's become my best friend over the years. I never had many friends as a child so she was my one friend. She used to be my play buddy ; she still is. She always makes time for me through her busy work schedule and she's always there to listen and support me.

Just when the movie is over the door busts open and my dad appears . He looks flustered; as though someone's chasing after him.
" Get packing now!"He shouts ordering.
" Wait! What's going on?" I ask utterly confused.
My mom gets up almost immediately as though she knew this was coming.
" Go pack baby . We'll explain later. " she simply says caressing my cheek.
We all rush upstairs. I'm way too confused that a simple packing process seems hard. I don't know what to pack . Probably because I don't know where we're going or why we're going. I can't escape the fear that creeps in my heart. My hands shake as I try to put everything into my luggage bag.

"Angela! Hurry up!" My dad shouts furiously.
I jump as I fail to close my bag.
My mom comes in and helps me . She holds my shaking hand assuring me that everything would be fine. I rushed to the bathroom to take the necklace my grandmother gave to me on my 18th birthday and a few pictures. I had a feeling we won't be back here for a while.

We took off in the middle of the night in an unfamiliar SUV car that had about 10 seats. My mom and I were right at the back with huge muscular men on our sides. My dad was at the next seat with more men and we were being driven. The car had tinted windows and the whole ordeal was really scary.

My dad takes our cellphones and throws them out the window. As I open my mouth to protest he gives me a deadly stare and I refrain. My mom was holding my hand really tight. I had no knowledge whatsoever over what this could be about and it was frustrating to say the least.

" Dad what's going on?" I asked hardly audible.
"Some very bad people are after us honey and we need to get to a safe place. "He said in a low voice.
My mouth went dry. It's what I've always feared. My worst nightmare is coming to life and I don't know how to stop it.

We drive through the night with barely any cars . Then suddenly the driver speeds up.
"We have company." I hear him say. A car seems to be following us. The driver tries his best to lose the car and he seems to have after a few minutes. A loud bang I'm much familiar with goes off and it all suddenly feels surreal. We're being shot at. Guns go off and we're forced to get down. The men in the car shoot back with their huge guns. It all feels like a movie except it's not. We could die at this very moment. My dad also pulls out his gun and tries to shoot back.

"Stay down okay!" He says at me and my mother. I see a different side of him. He seems dark but with this darkness comes something else. Something I've never seen before. Fear?

The shooting goes on and on and three of the men in the car are shot dead. It's just my dad and two other men trying to take out the two cars following us now. My dad and the guys get a few lucky shots but they're outnumbered. My mom gets up and shockingly starts shooting at as well. I never knew she's ever even seen a gun before but clearly I know nothing about my parents. My mom lands a few lucky shots and I'm way too dumbfounded to even comment so I just stay down . The car starts moving strange; as though no one is controlling it. One of the men checks on the driver .
"Driver down! " He shouts panicking.
He tries to take on the wheels but it's too late as the car hits on something really hard. It starts rolling and I crash my head really hard and it was lights out .
