"I'm not sure how much I trust that little girl." I say.
"Oh come on. She's a child! What can she do?" Mia replies
"I killed a werewolf when I was 9. She was attacking Shen but Shen's a weakling so I had to do the dirty work for him." I say, annoyed with Mia.
"I see your point." She replies, shrugging.

Five hours later we're all sleeping, I'm keeping guard. I jerk my head to where a tree branch is shaking and I see a figure come out. I quickly debate waking up the others but I decide to just grab my trident and walk out to this man. He looks about 18. He's got brown hair, slightly curly and his face is beautifully chiseled, I would go as far to say that this boy is perfect.
He grins recklessly at me.
"Who are you?" I ask.

"I'm Wren. You?" He says, his voice hushed.

"Name's Vera. What are you doing here?"

"I got thrown off my boat during a wavestorm. I swam to shore and I've been watching you and your group since you got here." He says.

"Erm... That's kind of creepy..." I'm a little unsure of this man's state of mind.

"Not meaning any creepiness, but I've never really seen anyone other than my parents, and who knows where they are now." He says, a hint of sadness.

" I'm sorry to hear that." I reply softly. I decide to look at his Change symbol, but there is none.
He catches me looking.

"Since I've grown up away from all that, people didn't know I was born, so they didn't change me."

I let out a sigh of relief.
After about an hour more of just us talking, Wren reaches out and holds up my hands in his. I'm feeling awkward but this feels... Right. Better than it did with Kylvern. Much better. I look up into his deep brown eyes. He tucks a loose strand of my short hair behind my ear. My lip twitches into a smile. I open my mouth to speak but he leans in and kisses me on the cheek, shocking me out of talking.
"Is that all?" I ask mockingly,

"Not in a million years." He leans in and we make out, arms wrapped around eachother, until we're both left gasping for air. We look at eachother and laugh.
This seems quick, but it feels so right. My mom always told me that when you find the One, you know it. I think this is what she meant.

Soon the sun is rising and I'm lying across Wren, who's awake and has kept guard all night. I feel really guilty now that I fell asleep and he had to stay up.

Mia wakes up first, she jerks around and sees me and Wren, sitting side by side with me leaning in to him. Mia looks at me in confusion.
"Vera can I talk to you for a moment? Alone?"
I nod. I know what's coming. My first real big-sisterly lecture about not knowing what true love is yet and etc etc. I quietly sit though her speech. Then, just to annoy her I walk up to Wren and grab his hand. Soon the other 4 Changelings wake up. I've learnt their names. Cella, Laur, Trent and Vania. As soon as we've left the campsite, a terrible pain starts in my head, it starts spreading through my entire body. I collapse.
