The Queen ^^^^^
Am I actually dead? It's dark, and when I try to sit up I hit my head on something. I can't be dead, unless people feel pain when they're dead. I try to figure out what I'm in. I actually might think it's a coffin. Aww crap I've been buried alive. Now how am I going to get out! If I turn into a mermaid maybe I can hit the wood hard enough for it to break, then I can turn into a butterfly and make my way out. It's not a great plan, but it's the best I've got.
Finally after like ten minute of trying to collapse the coffin, I smack it and it breaks. Right away I turn into a butterfly and dodge all the falling dirt and make my way out. Fresh air! My group isn't around, but I know they're headed towards the Queen's palace. I start flying that way.
After about an hour of flying, my tiny little wings get tired so I circle down, morphing into a mermaid. I swim close to the bottom of the ocean for a while, it's peaceful and nice until suddenly I'm grabbed from behind.
"You're breaking the Queen's curfew rules." A smooth female voice drawls. I turn around and see a palace guard. Not just one though, three. One is a guy and the other two are women.
"We will have to escort you back to the palace to receive the Queen's punishment."
The first woman says.
Great. An amazing first impression on the one I want to overthrow, but at least I get a shortcut to the palace. The mermaid guard grabs my arm and I squeeze my eyes shut. Teleportation, I hate it. I open my eyes again and we're in a beautiful crystal palace, the walls and ceiling glistening. The walls are almost transparent too so you can see the ocean that surrounds us. Mermaids and mermen are entering the palace by the dozens. There is what seems like a million doors in this great hall, probably one made for each mermaid/merman. The Queen has her ways of getting everyone under her control. The guard nudges me out of my daze. She escorts me forward to where the most beautiful creature ever to walk, er, swim the earth sits on a magnificent thrown. The Queen is dressed simply, no jewels, no anything other than natural beauty. Her glistening blue tail catching every colour in the room, amplifying her tail's beauty. She's got a plan black scaled bra, and a long shark tooth pendant hanging from her neck. Legend says that she received it from killing the shark King, during a war that happened years ago against the Sharks and Merfolk. I bow to her.
'Come forward child.'
She whispers in my mind. Her Rarity is Telepathy. I do as she says, I may be rebellious but I won't disobey someone who I need to gain their trust.
She gives me a slightly creepy smile. It seems catlike.
'Tell me who you are'
"My name is Vera, daughter of Waverly." Our names are always our first name, followed by 'daughter of (mother's name)'.
The Queen looks at me in the eye for a few seconds, it feels as if she's X-raying me. Then she speaks out loud.
"Vera, dear, tell me what your Rarity is."
Her voice is soft and quiet, quite soothing."I can morph between a butterfly, mermaid, and human at will, your Majesty." I feel uncomfortable telling the Queen this, like I'm telling one of my deepest secrets.
'Ah yes. But I feel a stronger power than just shapeshift in you, you are sure that is all the Rarity you carry?'
"Yes, quite sure." I whisper to her.
"Little Vera. You are not here to be in trouble anymore, it's actually quite the contrary."
The Queen sounds quite joyful as she talks."Bellofyr, please take notes, 100 percent word-for-word please." the Queen orders
The first female guard takes out a long sheet of paper, very official looking.
"Vera, daughter of Waverly, will now become my official successor to the throne. She, her mother, and any mermaid siblings she has will stay in the finest suite in the palace, next to mine of course. Vera will not step down from this role, nor will she not try her hardest in learning all that there is to know of Queenhood. She will participate in every lesson I give her. When the time comes to be Queen, she will of course rule all the oceans, and she will marry and have a King. Then she will have at least one child. That child will be her successor, so my blood will continue on the line of Queens. Signed, the Queen."
The Queen finishes, sighing happily.I'm in complete shock. Me? Being Queen? Why!?!
"May I ask a question your Majesty?" I keep my cool.
The Queen nods.
"What did you mean by your blood will still be in the line of queens?" I ask."Of course your mother does not know this, but I am her sister, therefore your aunt."
