Chapter 6: The Experiment

(This takes place before Gwyn is taken)

Tominaga POV

Being kidnapped is not how I expected my week to go but you know finding out that you developed powers from a FUCKING LAKE is at the top of my list for unexpected things. When they found out I had powers they handled it as any other government would. By experimenting... haha I'm fine! Justtt drained physically from the amount of blood they've taken and emotionally with the fact that now all of my friends are in trouble and I can't do anything about it.

"Hey! I'm talking to you now answer the question" ugh all they've asked me the same question over and over again.

"For the last time, I don't know how I got them, one day I was normal and the next I'm not! What else do you want?!" I'm aggravated at this point and it's not helping that they're looking at me in fear.

"What are you staring at, huh?" I asked them

"Yo-you-you're eyes they're red and you're on fire" I almost want to laugh at them for being so scared but that wouldn't be ethical I think? It doesn't matter maybe if I comply with them, for now, then I can get out and find my friends.

"I got them from a lake," I said bluntly "I don't remember where it was but there I know it was surrounded by hills and it's far from any civilization." They look at me in shock but immediately call in their boss. Oh that was way too easy, I told them somewhat of the truth but they'll never be able to find it, I hope.

"State your name, please"

"Tominaga Yashushi"

"Known power"

"Fire bending I guess" How do you explain it? I'm in some room full of government officials not ideal but who knows it could be useful. 

"Sorry we're lat- Is this the subject you were talking about?" Two more people walk in and one of them just happens to be Perseus. He gives me a look of concern and I immediately look away. Even though he is my best friend I can't let him get caught as I did. 

"This is Tominaga Yashushi. We apprehended him yesterday and finally got something out of him this morning. We first found out he had powers when the sedative we gave him wore off and he went into a fit of rage almost burning the face off the guards near him. Once, we felt he had him tied down enough so that he couldn't kill us," this part is said as he glares at me "we started the interrogation the only information he gave us was that he got it from a lake and it's secluded" 

It's an awkward silence for a moment before they all start to speak up.

"How do you know we can trust him?"

"That's not believable we need to question him more and run more tests"

"A lake you seriously think we'll believe that?" 

At this point, it became too much so I did the only reasonable thing I could do. I screamed.

"ENOUGH. I don't care if you don't believe me it doesn't matter all you need to know is that I'm valuable. I'm a weapon.  You may not like it but you know it's true." Scaring them was fun but all this talking wasn't. 

"Show us your power then if you're so valuable let us see it" Perseus spoke up the men in the room all agreed. 

"Fine but I wouldn't but be so cocky," I said smirking and throwing a ball of fire right over his pretty little head. "Is that good enough for you pretty boy" I could tell he wanted to laugh but he couldn't so all he did has nod his head. A sign that he was gonna get me for that. 

"Was that a threat boy?"  Some guy with a deep southern accent asked 

"No, sir not at all. I simply did what you all asked me to. Is that so bad?" I said smirking while a guard walked me out of the room.

"Where are we going?" silence is all I get in response. I sigh in annoyance wondering why I'm already on some mission when they don't even trust me. This is seriously dumb. Like dumber than du-

"Get out we're here" Oh wow okay. Stepping out of the truck I'm handed a pistol as who I'm guessing is in charge knock on the people's door. A middle-aged-looking man answers the door and has a look of concern as he lets us in. 

"Honey can you get Gwyn, please?" he asks his wife. Wait Gwyn no I'm just being crazy. Or so I thought.

"Gwyn, please come down the government is here." I hear someone rustling around before rushing down the stairs and to my surprise I see Gwyn looking just as concerned as I feel. We make eye contact for a split second before his mother speaks up. I zone most of the conversation out hearing only certain parts but what catches my attention is when Gwyn's mom starts freaking out.

"Ma'am please calm down. There has been a sudden chemical in only a select few teens. This is all that I can tell you." I look at Gwyn trying to tell them that I'm going to get them out of here when all of a sudden the power goes out and I quickly grab them and run as fast as I can.
