Chapter 4: What do we do?

Hera POV

Ever since Tominagas unsettling text, we haven't been to the city. All we've been doing is texting and calling making sure everyone is okay and safe. Today is the first day since his disappearance that we've seen each other. 

"Hey, guys," I say solemnly "I'm so sorry I didn't know going to the lake would cause this." Everyone had forgiven me and told me it wasn't my fault but I can't help but feel like it was. We all just sit there for a second only thinking about Tomi. 

"We need to go back to the lake it's the only way we'll get answers," Lycus says standing up.

We all look around agreeing with each other. We all stand up and head over to the lake. Once we get there we look at it and just stand there in silence. Satis is the first one to move and she jumps in. Eventually, we all do the same. But nothing happens. 

"Why the hell is nothing happening?" Gwyn is the first one to say anything about it. He wouldn't admit it but he truly cares about Tomi. 

"What happened when the lake first lit up?" I ask knowing that if we don't think of something we're just wasting our time. 

"You and Perc were kissing and it just randomly lit up. But, I don't think it's only because of emotions that's insane and it can't be possible." Gwyn said starting to get slightly frustrated. We all were. I looked down saw something glowing. I swam done not caring about what everybody else was doing. The bottom of the lake seemed to be glowing. I touch it carefully and as soon as I do I feel a shock go through the water. I immediately swim up and look at everybody startled. 

"Did you feel that too?" I asked hoping I wasn't going crazy.

"You mean the electric shock we just got from being in the water?  Yeah, we felt it." Satis said looking fairly dazed. We all decided to get out of the lake and go home. I decided to go home with Perc not wanting to be around my parents right now. 

"Are you okay?" he asked worry being shown clearly in his eyes. I wanted to tell him the truth but I decided against it 

"Yeah, I'm fine. I promise" I said kissing him on the cheek. He didn't need to know what was going on at home yet. Not yet anyway.

Wow, this place is huge. I knew he was rich but not this-

"Perseus where have you bee-, Oh hello I'm sorry I didn't know my son had a girlfriend." his dad said partially taken by surprise. He tried to collect himself and was obviously failing.

"Um, Father this is Hera. Hera Hunnington. We're not officially dating." Perc says trying to break this horrible silence. I wave at his father as Perc directs me to his room quickly trying to get me away from a situation I shouldn't be in.

Once we make it to his room, he locks the door and looks at me to make sure I'm alright. I smile at him making sure he knows that I'm perfectly fine. 

"I'm sorry. I wouldn't have brought you here if I had known he was home." He apologizes. 

"It's okay. At least now he won't hit you while I'm here." I say giving him a reassuring smile. I sit down on his bed motioning for him to sit down with me and I hug him. that's all I can do. Eventually, he cries softly but falls asleep in my arms. I carefully lay down still holding him in my arms. It takes a while for me to fall asleep but eventually I do.

In the morning Perc takes me home while telling me his dad needs him for some government meeting and that it's safer for me not to be there in case something bad happens. Sadly, I make my way to my room and just lay in bed. I then change out of my dirty clothes and clean up my room a bit. I then put on some music and light some candles. I pick up a book and just read until one of my siblings says they need me for something. 

Looks like my parents are out of town for something and didn't tell me. Which means I'm stuck on babysitting duties. I love my siblings I really do and I guess I should spend more time with them. But, sometimes I just want to be alone. 

We decide to just watch movies all day and I motivate them to eventually go to their rooms and work on homework while I do the same. The group chat has been quiet today which isn't a good or bad thing. I don't know what to expect anymore but all I know is that eventually, we have to find out exactly what that lake is.

As I get ready to fall asleep I hear a knock on my door and know it means my little brother can't sleep. I let him in and as I'm about to shut the door my little sister slips in as well. I let it slide and lay down in between them. Holding them until we all fall asleep and drift into the next day of our lives. Our sad boring lives.
