Blazing, your alarm went off just like it does every weekday, although this morning it was earlier than usual as you needed to do some last-minute cramming for your final exam today. It seemed like a normal enough day for exam week, as you grabbed a piece of toast and your bag and stumbled out of the door.
'Back to the library,' you sighed as the cool morning air blew back your slightly dishevelled hair.
The sun had just risen above the horizon and you weren't feeling like studying. It's almost over at least, you thought as you chugged into the library with a grin on your face remembering it's your very last day of high school.
After years of pushing yourself to the edge, long hours in the library, and constant visualization and reinforcement of your goals in life, you finally got into the school of your dreams to study engineering. You wanted to change the world. Yeah... a lofty goal for a teen, but you were dead set on it. If you weren't studying, you were working towards this goal -- every day for the past two years, and you were almost done with stage one. You planned it all out, but in order to get to stage two, you needed to not fail this last exam.
Some thought you were narrow minded and stubborn; you might have agreed with them except you preferred the term determined.
Pulling your books out of your bag after reaching a desk, you shoved as much info into your head before heading off into the exam hall.
-----
'Time is up. Please stop writing and close your paper in front of you,' the exam administrator announced.
The hall was massive and held rows of desks where your fellow seniors sat. You could see their varied responses: some laid their head on their desk in exhaustion and resignation, while others smiled and silently cheered to their friends in congratulations.
You were reflecting on the exam and how much better you could have done if you had actually studied a few days before instead of cramming...
See... your goals were somewhat cracked. Remember stage one? Well, it's been at a standstill for a few months now... you haven't been able to look at it clearly.
You started recalling certain unwelcome memories when your long-time best friend, Kara, who was sitting behind you luckily interrupted as she whispered in your ear, ' Y/n, remember when you entered that competition?'
You turned to look at Kara, eyebrows furled in confusion.
'The one where you have a chance to spend a week with BTS!' she exclaimed a little too loudly as the teacher turned to shush us.

'Ohh yeah, I forgot about how you made me enter a while back,' rolling your eyes. 'You know the chances are like 1 in 10 million, right?'
Kara, always the optimist, cheered a little quieter this time, 'Yeah, but if you win it means it's fate!'
You slightly smiled at the thought, although your heart felt heavy in recollection.
I wish fate worked like that, instead of just bringing me pain.
It wasn't just Kara who made you enter the competition though. You secretly wished that fate had your back for once in your life and you sighed out loud from thinking about it.
