They had told you last night that they had a photo shoot early in the morning and that they would let you sleep. You gave them all hugs before you went to bed, not knowing whether you'd see them again for a while. You teared up a little as you tried to fall asleep. This whole experience has been so much for you.

You didn't like waking up to a silent house and empty bed. The place that was usually so lively felt hollow without them there.

Checking your phone, you had many messages from Kara and Kai to answer which you told yourself you'd do later and were about to toss your phone on the bed when you remembered.

'I have Jimin's number!' And you decided to text him.

you: guess who it is ;)

There was no reply. 'He must be in the shoot now.' You sighed.

You almost walked out of the room when you noticed your bedside table. There was a single red rose in a glass of water and next to it a tiny shopping bag with a korean label you couldn't read. You admired the rose's deep colour and smell and its soft petals before moving to open the bag. Inside were makeup containers, all brand new and in their packaging, with Jimin-sharpied labels on each of them. Included was a note:

Morning, jagi. I hope you slept well after your nightmare.

'My nightmare...' Your barely remembered, your memories were jumbled.

Breakfast is in the fridge for you. I am sorry we couldn't be here when you wake up. Please stay safe as you travel home.

'Today... is that day...' You wanted to cry.

We will see each other again soon, I promise.

- Jimin and the rest of your family

You wanted to cry even more.

'Y/n...' Your parents called out, less muffled now. 'Y/n, you have to live. You need to live to change the world. Follow...' Your mom coughed up blood. 'Follow your heart,' your father who was in a similar condition to your mother continued, 'Don't let anything get in your way...'

You had forgotten your parents' voices. It came back to you, and you remembered how Jimin lulled you back to sleep when you were sobbing during the night.

'Mom... Dad...'

You wandered around the empty house, finding a plate of breakfast carefully prepared for you in the fridge. You delighted in the smiley face that your food was shaped into.

You stood at the window and looked out over the quiet Seoul neighbourhood. In this moment, you felt like the world was waiting for you. You had woken up with the grand feeling that you knew exactly what you needed to do. That feeling had faded as you became more awake but as you contemplated and people-watched, you thought back and recognised that you had made a decision, you just didn't know if you should accept it yet.

You spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon contemplating on this. You walked slowly back to your hotel, passing Lisa on her way back home. Her eyes were puffy and light pink. You hugged her and exchanged numbers before heading your separate ways. You had to pack up your things for your night flight this evening. As you were putting away your blueprints, you looked through them again, recognising that you truly had made a decision.

You still weren't confident in your decision, though, and you wouldn't truly find peace for another half a year, but you knew what you had to do.

You fished out the business card from your bag. Bang PD.

'Hello?'

'Hi, this is Y/n Chae.'

'Ah, yes, I've been waiting to hear from you...'

You checked your phone to see if Jimin had replied.

You sighed...

you: I'm going to see Bang PD now

You walked slowly down the now familiar streets to the HYBE building where he told you to meet him. You walked in and past reception who nodded to you while your mind was still lost in thought. Taking the stairs up to his office, you remembered what Jimin told you about the place as you walked, each step feeling heavier than the one before.

You were now stood outside those imposing big wooden doors again. You forgot how you had got there while your whole mind focussed on the door and how this room would change the course of your life. You heard fast footsteps sprinting down the hall towards you.

'Y/n wait!' It was Jimin, the only time you've seen him out of breath.

He engulfed you in a hug. Neither of you could pull away, both needing the comfort. You absorbed the feeling while you still could, glad that he was there.

'I want you to know,' he said, 'That I will honour your decision, whatever you choose.'

'If you decide to follow my footsteps then I'll see you in a few weeks when you move here permanently.' He smiled hopefully but sadly, knowing that your sleep talking last night held your decision.

'Or if you decide to follow your original dream, I will stand by your side as well, just a little further away. Our tour stops by you in 6 months time, so I will see you then. You can also fly to come see me any time in your suit.' He winked. 'I could pull some strings with the air force to allow you to fly here whenever. I am a powerful man,' He joked, but you smiled sincerely at his words.

'You know about my Iron Man suits?'

He nodded. 'I think you are an inspiration, Y/n. The guys are gunna freak when they find out.' You giggled.

He took your hand, intertwining your fingers. 'Either way, we will work it out.'

'Everything happens for a reason, y/n, I truly believe that.' He looked into your eyes deeply and sincerely.

You shared one last passionate kiss.

As you stood at the doors to the future with Jimin by your side, you had one concluding thought...

"Fuck Fate."

"I'm doing it my way."
