*6 months later*

"I'm telling you Theo. Something is wrong with Hermione. I've been having to do the patrols alone. She falls asleep at the table studying, barely eats, and I can feel something through our bond, but I don't know what it is. She even missed my birthday, which is so weird considering she had told me she had planned multiple surprises. It's really weird" I was telling Theo.

Hermione had been acting weird and had built a wall around her thoughts. She had become a shell.

Theo shrugged, "I don't know mate. Maybe she's sick and doesn't want you to know. When did it start?"

I thought back to 3 weeks ago. She had gone out shopping by herself and had taken her cellphone. We had been texting back and forth, flirting when suddenly she stopped responding.

I chalked it up to her being preoccupied but when I reached out through our bond I was met with silence.

That night, when she came home, she had gone straight to her own room and locked the door. She had been sleeping in her room since then.

She had gone back to wearing long sleeves and basically hiding herself.

She wouldn't even let me touch her without flinching. It was like she was terrified of me.

"3 weeks ago" I finally answered.

Theo looked deep in thought, "Maybe she's pregnant?"

I shook my head, "No, if she was I would know. Every book we've read about the bond, says that when one of the flames is 'with child' the other flame will feel when the first flame finds out. It basically said, that my soul would basically refuse to leave her side until the child was born. That can't be it."

Theo shrugged, "I don't know then."

I paced back and forth in front of the glass wall of the common room and thought.

I needed answers. I hadn't told Theo, but it felt as if the bond was weakening and she was pulling herself away from me. I didn't even know if that was possible.

Things had gotten so twisted, the mark on my arm had started showing again little by little and I didn't know what to do.

I needed to get to the bottom of this.
