It was finally the day of the trip and Danny had never been so nervous in his life. And we are talking about the guy who is in charge of the whole Ghost Zone. Currently, Danny, Jazz, Valerie, and Dash were in the Kitchen preparing breakfast while Legendary was playing in the background. (What would this fanfic be without that song) During that time the class had shown up ready for the field trip. With the loud music coming from Danny's phone and the concentration on not burning breakfast no one had noticed the class was just standing there awkwardly. By the time the song had ended the group of teenagers finished breakfast. Mr. Lancer thought it was a good time to make their presence known.
"Ahem."
Danny, Jazz, Valerie, and Dash quickly turned around with knives in their hands ready to throw them at whoever was there. Danny however actually threw the knife but missed someone's head by an inch. Danny mumbled a small sorry and Lancer just looked like it was nothing new. He did work at a public school, so nothing could really surprise him at that point. (Mood)
"Sorry for letting ourselves in, we thought we were running late. Turns out we are early," Lancer said.
"No problem, let me just get Jack and Maddie for you," Danny said, ignoring the confused faces. So what he called his parents Jack and Maddie instead of mom and dad. It isn't like it is the end of the world. Unless it was... quick somebody sound the alarm!
Danny went to the basement door and called for them and came back with his parents behind him.
"Jazzy pants why aren't you dressed yet?" Jack asked.
"Sorry dad, we lost track of time," Jazz said, slightly wincing at the word 'dad'.
"No worries! We still got plenty of time! Why don't you get dressed now and we will wait for you!" Jack said.
"Sure, be right back," Jazz said before running up the stairs with Danny, Valerie, and Dash right behind her.
Mr. Lancer looked at the Fenton's confused. Why weren't Jack and Maddie with the teenagers making them breakfast and making sure they were ready? And why didn't Jack and Maddie address Danny, Valerie, and Dash? Surely they would say something to their son and his friends. And why did Jazz wince when she called Jack dad? There was more to this family than they let on. And he was sure none of it was good. He started to worry about Danny and Jazz's well being.
"Well, while we wait let's go over some rules!" Maddie said.
"Shouldn't we wait for the kids upstairs?" Lancer asked.
"They were told beforehand," Maddie said, which made Lancer even more concerned.
One long talk about rules later Jazz, Danny, Valerie, and Dash came downstairs dressed and had bookbags.
"Jazzy pants, what's with the bookbag?" Jack asked.
"Just stuff for emergencies, you never know what could happen," Jazz answered.
"Great thinking Jazz!" Jack said.
"Now that we are all here we can go to the lab!" Maddie said, excited.
"Let's hope no one touches anything, we wouldn't want anyone to explode," Danny whispered to Jazz, Valerie, and Dash.
Dash tried to hide his laughs but failed while Jazz and Valerie gave them both a look.
"What? I'm not wrong," Danny whispered, raising his arms in surrender.
The class followed Jack and Maddie to where the lab was. Once they went down the stairs they were met with the sight of a floating bus.
"Welcome to our lab! This beauty right here is the Specter Bus named after the Specter Speeder!" Jack said, excitedly.
"After four years you would think that they would get better at naming things," Dash said.
"It's the Fenton's they live to disappoint," Valerie said, which made Danny snicker loudly.
"Mr. Fenton is there something wrong?" Lanced asked.
"Nope just allergies," Danny said.
Lancer didn't believe him but just dropped it. He was used to Danny's weird excuses, though he had to admit they were getting better.
"Really? Allergies?" Jazz asked.
"Jazz I can't be perfect at everything," Danny said.
"Danny, be honest with yourself, you aren't perfect at anything," Dash said.
Danny gasped, "I thought you were my friend, oh! The betrayal!"
Valerie rolled her eyes and elbowed Danny, "Shut up before Lancer calls you out again."
Danny just held the area where Valerie elbowed him.
"You've been injured worse, Danny," Jazz said.
"So supportive," Danny said.
"That's what we are here for," Jazz, Valerie and Dash said.
"Before we get into the bus, my husband and I will be doing some last-minute system checks. Feel free to look around but don't touch anything!" Maddie said before turning to the Bus.
Everyone eagerly went to different tables to see the type of stuff the Fenton's had in their lab.
"I'm surprised Sam and Tucker haven't said anything to us yet," Valerie said.
"They won't, not with Lancer in the same room as us. But their eyes have been glaring at the back of my head for the past hour," Danny said.
Valerie, Dash, and Jazz looked behind Danny and there the pair was glaring at Danny. Jazz gave them a glare and they immediately looked away. No one messes with Jazz.
Thirty minutes later the last-minute checks were done and the class huddled together.
"Now that we finished all final checks we can finally begin the trip!" Maddie said.
Everyone eagerly got to the entrance of the bus. Just as Danny, Jazz, Valerie, and Dash were moving toward the bus Tucker and Sam pushed past Danny.
"Watch it freak!" Sam said before grabbing Tucker's hand and pulling him to the entrance of the bus.
"How dare-" Jazz started to say before Danny interrupted her.
"Jazz don't, they aren't worth it," Danny said.
Jazz sighed and dropped it. She was going to curse them out one day.
Danny, Valerie, Jazz, and Dash were the last ones to enter the bus and sat all the way in the back. Lancer, Jack, and Maddie were in the front while everyone else sat in the middle.
"Everyone buckle up! Maddie, please open the portal," Jack said.
Maddie opened the portal and the class looked at the portal in awe. Jack started up the bus and entered the portal. There was no turning back now.
