Lorenzo's POV:

Three months have passed since I rescued Mavery from that awful place. She has been recovering faster than anticipated, meaning she is able to come home this afternoon. Blaine has been in an out, I was happy her and Mavery got along so well. Aiden has also come to see her a lot, she seems to like him so I can't say anything about it. I understand they are long lost siblings and all, but he watched her be tortured in that place for so long. She may forgive him but I haven't.

"You all set?" I ask to Mavery, who was sitting on her bed in her little hospital rooms but stood up upon my arrival. She nods and I lead her out of the hospital. She still isn't fully healed, and sometimes flinches when I make sudden movements, but she is getting better. That's what is important.

"So I figured we could stay at my moms for a few days then fly back to New York." I said with a tone suggesting she could object if she wanted. All she did is nod as we got into my car. "How are you feeling?" I ask her, she doesn't respond. I sigh and force myself to let it go. I know she has been through so much and I need to give her time.

Mavery's POV:

After we arrived at his moms house, he left me in the kitchen while he ran upstairs to do something, don't ask me what because he didn't tell me.

"Mavery is that you?!" I hear a familiar voice from across the room, and turn to see Lorenzo's mom, Anne.

"How are you holding up sweetheart?" She says, embracing me in a warm hug. I don't respond because I know I can't truthfully give her the answer she expects, which is that I'm alright.

She sighs and walks around the kitchen island, "Where is that son of mine?"

I respond only with a shrug as she starts to open the fridge and search for something. "So what are you in the mood to eat?"

"I'm not hungry, thank you though."

"I don't mean to be rude, but I was given strict instructions to make sure you eat, even if you don't feel like it."

I didn't protest because I was actually starving, and I was not in a mood to argue right now. I just slightly nodded as she pulled out different ingredients. "It's early enough for pancakes right?" She says, reaching her head over her shoulder to peak at the clock shown on the oven.

Suddenly Chris enters the room, giving Anne a quick hug before sitting next to me on an island chair. "Her pancakes are amazing, don't worry." I don't know why I expected him to be rude to me, maybe because of when I had first met him, but I was pleasantly surprised when he seemed nice. It wasn't pity he was showing, thankfully.

"I bet they are" I smiled.

"What are you guys talking about?" Lorenzo chimes in, entering the kitchen and standing behind my chair, his hands wrapping around me and him planting a kiss on the back of my head.

"Oh nothing," Anne says, "Why don't you come help your mother stir this?"

Lorenzo walks around the kitchen and starts stirring the pancake mixture. I couldn't help but find it a little funny how obedient he is to his mother compared to how he treats everyone else.

"Is Dad flying home soon?"

"He's supposed to land very late tonight." Chris responds. I've heard very scary rumors about Lorenzo's father, but he would never do anything to me right? Of course not! He is married to this nice woman and has two lovely boys. What if he just hates me because of my father?!

"He will love you, don't worry about it." Lorenzo says, almost as if he is reading my thoughts.

I nod, watching Lorenzo pour the mix onto a pan, hundreds of little sizzles erupting. "Where is Aiden?" I curiously ask. Aiden had been awful to me in the beginning, but how can I blame him when he had been fed lies about me his whole life? It's not like he ever hurt me, if anything he helped me as much as he could. I know that Lorenzo dislikes him because of what happened, but he can deal with it.  If he wants to blame Aiden, he may as well blame himself because in my mind they both had basically an equal role.

"He flew to New York last night, didn't he tell you?"

I shake my head, wondering why he didn't mention this yesterday when he was in my room talking with me. "I'm sure it just slipped his mind." Anne says, but I know she is just saying this to ease my mind. I decide to go with it though, and hey maybe it did really just slip his mind.

"Figlio you are going to burn those!" Anne screams, running over to take the half burnt pancakes off the hot pan and on to a plate. She lightly smacks Lorenzo in the back of the head, "Guarda cosa hai fatto, ragazzo!" (Look what you did, boy!)

He rolls his eyes, lucky his mom didn't see or else she may have started yelling at him. I found this very amusing that Lorenzo was allowing her to put him in his place. "Christiano come to the store with me to pick up bagels or something because your knucklehead of a brother can't flip a pancake!" She scolds Lorenzo but with a joking tone.

Chris hops off the chair and leaves the room with Anne. I finally allow the laugh I had been holding in to escape my lips.

"What are you laughing at?" He walks over and is standing in front of my chair.

"I just didn't know you were such a momma's boy" I giggled, which made him scoop me up from the chair and set me on the counter so he was standing between my legs. "Want me to show you how much of a 'momma's boy' I am?" He says in a deep voice.

I feel myself blush, and am almost sure my cheeks are bright red. He leans in and softly touches his lips to mine for just a second before moving an inch away.

"When you are better, I will definitely show you" he whispers into my ear, sending shivers down my spine.

Lorenzo and I spent the rest of the day lounging around. We binge watched the Harry Potter movies, I don't think he liked that I found Draco extremely attractive. "He is just not!" Lorenzo argued with me for the fifteenth time since we started. "Just look at him!" I laughed.

"Whatever." He scoffed, shutting off the TV since we had just finished the last movie. "We should probably get to bed." He says, which surprises me since I could have sworn it was just noon. "It's already one?!"

He gets off the couch hoisting me up to my feet. We walk up the stairs then stop in front of the same room I stayed in the first time I was here.

He pulls me in to a deep hug. "If you have any trouble sleeping I'm right down the hall ok?"

I smile at how sweet he has been the past few months, and nod. "Goodnight." He says, "Goodnight." I respond with a smile before slipping into the familiar room and closing the door behind me.

I wake up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night. Another nightmare. I glance at the clock to see it is 4 AM.

I remember Lorenzo's offer if I needed him, but something stopped me. I'm already being a big enough burden.

Instead, I make my way downstairs to get a glass of water. As quiet as I can, I fill up a nice big glass and take a few sips, my eyes looking out the window at the nice view. There are surprisingly lots of stars in the sky for LA, the moon is full and bright.

Suddenly, I feel something dig into the back of my head, it takes me a second to recognize it as the barrel of a gun.
