Mavery's POV

A part of me knew I should cover the purple on my neck up with something, or dowse it in makeup until you can't see it anymore, but another part of me wanted him to see what he did to me. Would he feel guilty? I mean I did nothing wrong, my bad for not wanting to sleep in lingerie that has a string up my ass. Any other girl probably would look sexy in lingerie but when I wear it all you can see are bruises and scars.

Shit Mavery why would he feel guilty? Did your dad ever feel guilty? No. So why would some stranger?

I decided on patting makeup all over my neck because I was already in need of putting some on my arms so why not.

I went and reread the letter that Lorie, the maid, had dropped off earlier that morning.

Mavery,

Be downstairs by 8 o'clock sharp. Be dressed appropriately and get ready to work.

I am assuming Lorenzo wrote the note, which put me on edge. I had no idea what he meant by 'appropriate' so I just decided on black jeans and a nice long sleeve blouse. Thoughts swirled in my mind, what job could I possibly be doing?

I made my way out the door and to my left away from the stairs towards his room. In my hand I held a nicely folded T-shirt which belonged to him. I placed it on the floor inches from his door and headed down stairs. It was 8:00 on the dot when I made my way down the stairs, my heels making noises at every step.

My eyes locked with his stone cold silver eyes. I held eye contact not wanting to let him know how terrified I was of him. When I reached the bottom of the staircase he approached me with a file in his hand and held it out to me. I carefully took it, unsure if I was allowed to open it. I looked back to his eyes which now seemed to be telling me to open it already.

I flipped it open and immediately started reading line after line.

"Are you kidding me?" I say in shock, "Let's see if you're smart or if daddy's money got you into school." He says with a smirk. I was in disbelief. "You want me to work as your assistant?"
