We arrived back at Derek's loft to find Cora gone. While I was worried about her, it seemed like Derek wasn't all too worried. I didn't ask questions, I just sort of stood there waiting for Derek to say something to me.
"So, you can sleep upstairs if you'd like." Derek said taking off his jacket and throwing it on the table. I nodded at him and dropped my bag by the door and walked over to Derek.
"I'm really sorry about Boyd." I said standing next to him by the window. Derek had his arms crossed over his chest and looking out the window at the rainy, grey sky.
"It's not your fault." he said with a sad, heavy sigh. I frowned and stood there with him looking out at the sky. Out of no where I got a burst of courage and hugged him tightly. Derek stiffened not knowing what to do but finally returned the hug with a few tears escaping his eyes.
"I can't help but think that there was something that I could of done." I said quietly into his chest.
"It's okay Ella. There was nothing that you could have done." Derek said just as quietly if not quieter.
"Why don't you go lay down and I'll head out and get something to eat." I said pulling from his grasp slowly. Derek just held me tighter and I felt a few tears drop onto my shoulder. "I'll be back okay." I said against his chest. Derek let go of me and pulled back slowly.
"You don't have to get anything." he said sniffling slightly.
"I heard your stomach Derek. You're starving." I said with a little smirk. Derek chuckled lightly. "What would you like?" I questioned.
"Anything. I am starving now that you mention it." he said holding his stomach as it rumbled again.
"What are you in the mood for?" I questioned. Derek sat there thinking for a while trying to come up with an idea.
"Mexican! Chipotle sounds pretty good right about now." he said with a little smile. I smiled back and nodded.
"Chipotle it is! Text me what you, and if Cora and Peter show up tell me what they want also and I will grab it!" I said with a bright smile trying to lighten up the mood. Derek rolled his eyes at me playfully and I just chuckled.
"Do you want me to go with you? It's getting pretty dark outside." Derek said looking back out the window.
"You can if you want to." I said honestly. Derek nodded at me and started walking towards his bed and grabbed his jacket.
"Well come on then." he said ushering for me to follow him. I nodded and followed after him shutting the giant sliding door. When we walked outside it was raining cats and dogs outside. I didn't really mind it though.
"Wait here, I'll go grab the car." he told me jogging off to the car. I was about to protest but he ran off before I could say anything. Less than a minute later the car was sitting in front of me and I got in the passenger seat. Derek turned on the radio and one of my favorite songs was playing on the radio. I started singing along to the song and every now and then look over at Derek who was looking at me slightly while also keeping his eyes on the road. I heard hi chuckle when I got a little louder and I stopped.
"What's so funny?" I asked crossing my arms in a joking pouty way.
"Nothing is funny. You're just a really good singer." he complimented smiling slightly at me.
"Thank you." I said smiling at him and continued singing. Not to long later Derek soon joined me in singing, even though he didn't really know the song. It was clear he's heard it before but wasn't an expert on it like I was. Not to long after, we finally drove up to Chipotle. We hopped out of the car and walked into the restaurant. When we walked in the first thing I saw was Kali and the twins. I cringed and put my head down keeping my attention on my shoes. Derek looked over at me curiously.
"What's wrong?" he asked stopping me from walking.
"Kali and the twins are here." I said quietly nodding my head towards them. Derek stiffened but didn't move his spot from in front of me. I heard him let out a slight growl. I put my hand on his arm trying to calm him down which worked slightly. Derek stepped to the side so he was standing beside me and put an arm around my shoulder protectively.  I sunk into his side trying to hide myself as we walked up to the counter.
"Hello, welcome to Chipotle! My name is Charlie and I'll be taking you're order. What can I get you?" a boy no older than 17 asked. Derek told him his order and I told him mine. "Okay, that'll be $12." the boy said. I went to get out my wallet only to be beat by Derek. I looked up at him and he sent me a genuine smile. I smiled back at him and waited for our food. Once it arrived we went and sat in a corner booth hoping to not be recognized. As we ate, Derek and I talked about random stuff. He asked me more about myself and I asked him more about himself. We were both careful to stay away from anything that had to do with family.
"Ella." I heard from behind me. I turned around to see someone with their hood up.
"Yes?" I questioned. The person put down their hood and I growled. "What do you think you're doing here Jason?" I said and stood from my spot. Jason cowered a little but stood his ground.
"I need your help." he said. I scoffed and looked over at Derek who had a curious look on his face. I shook my head and turned back to Jason. I lunged at him and grabbed a hold of his jacket.
"And why the hell would I help you?" I growled. Jason put up his hands in surrender.
"I know I messed up in the past. And I can't tell you how sorry I am for it. I never meant for any of that to happen. I was just looking out for my sister." he said defensively. I growled again just as another presence stood beside me. I knew it was Derek so I didn't worry about it.
"Just saying sorry isn't going to bring back my entire family now is it?" I asked coldly.
"I know, and if I knew what my father was planning I wouldn't have told him anything." he said with a sad face. I sighed and pushed him away from me.
"That isn't good enough Jason." I said and took a step back so I was standing next to Derek. I crossed my arms and sighed.
"Who is this tool?" Jason asked. I scoffed at him and rolled my eyes.
"That is none of your concern." I said coldly. I felt Derek put a hand on my arm trying to calm me, which worked, until Jason opened his mouth.
"Don't touch her." Jason said stepping towards Derek. I growled at Jason and felt myself start to lose control.
"How about, you get lost instead." I said taking a step towards him only to be held back my Derek.
"How about he takes his hand off of you." Jason said not breaking eye contact with Derek. I stepped between Derek and Jason and growled even louder at Jason.
"You have no place in the matter. Sure we dated once, and that's over. You completely destroyed everything once you sold out my family to your father and ended up in a massacre and every single person in my family is dead. And I blame you for it. So, you have no say in anything." I said.
"Wait, this is the guy that helped kill your family?" Derek said looking at me. I nodded at him and something changed in him. He straightened and immediately looked at Jason in disgust. I heard a low growl come from him and I turned to him fully and put a hand on his chest.
"I'm handling it. It's okay." I said to him. He loosened a little but still held eye contact with Jason.
"Jason, what the hell do you need so we can both be rid of each other, for good." I said turning back to him.
"I need your help. Someone is trying to kill me. " I scoffed and crossed my arms.
"And this is bad news because?" I asked coldly.
"Because they're your friends." he said crossing his own arms.
"Why shouldn't I let them kill you? I mean, it's only fair. Your family killed my family and in return my friends kill you. Sounds fair to me." I said narrowing my eyes at him.
"You know, you aren't as intimidating as you think you are." Jason said. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and re-opened them.
"You rather me look at you like this?" I asked, my eyes glowing red. I blinked and my eyes went back to their original color. Jason's eyes widened a little but also remained silent. "Fine, tell me who they are so I can talk to them and convince them to not kill you and be rid of you for the rest of my life." I said crossing my arms. Jason nodded his head in the direction of the twins and Kali. I sighed and walked over to them. They all looked at me and gave me a small smile.
"We just wanted to help." Aiden said. I sighed and looked behind me to see Jason and Derek still locked eyes. I turned my attention back to them and sighed.
"I don't care what you do to him, but make sure he suffers and make sure he never comes back here again, but don't kill him. I want him to remember what he did. I want him to suffer like I did all of these years." I said to the twins, seeing how Kali was ignoring me. Aiden and Ethan smirked at each other and nodded at me. I gave them a slight smile and went back to Derek's side.
"There, it's taken care of." I said crossing my arms.
"I heard what you told them. I thought you were going to get them off of my back." Jason said acting like he was just stabbed in the back.
"I said I would convince them to not kill you, I said nothing about harming you. Now, I'm giving you a 10 minute head start before they come after you, I suggest you take it." I said while taking Derek's arm and dragging him with me to leave the restaurant. Once we were outside I let out a breathe that I didn't realize I was holding. I looked over at Derek who was looking at me with concern. I then realized that I still had a hold of his arm and let go. I looked down at the ground in embarrassment. I then felt two hands cup my face and soft warm lips attach to mine. I stood there like a statue for a moment but then kissed back. Derek and I broke apart for air and he leaned his forehead against mine.
