The school bell rang. All the kids were at the front of the school, but you and your friend Karl were sitting near a pond far away from the school, watching the fishes whirl around in the water peacefully. On that day, you had just turned 7.
"Do you ever think fishes copy humans? Like how we wear accessories and clothes?" Karl questioned.
You chuckled. "You come up with the oddest questions."
"Oh! That reminds me!"
Karl unzips his bag, and pulls out petite white gold earrings, he gently placed your hair behind your ears and put the earrings on you.
"Happy birthday Y/N." he said with a nervous laugh.
"Thank you! I'm speechless!!"
You hear the sound of footsteps and loud breathing coming from behind you, you turn around. It was Alex.
Alex stomps his foot. "Are you kidding me? I was going to scare you!"
"I could feel your presence and I could hear your stupid breathing. Try again next time."
"You're so cruel!" Alex said with his arms crossed.
Alex then quietly sat down in between you and Karl. He reaches into the pockets of his hoodie and pulls out a rich and alluring gold necklace, with a precious red ruby. In the other pocket, he pulls out a luxurious diamond bracelet. He hands you the necklace, and Karl the bracelet.
"Happy birthday Y/N! And happy early birthday to you, Karl!" Alex said with a big smile on his face.
You and Karl looked at the luxury jewelry that were in Alex's hands, you roughly hit his arm.
"Alex!"
You sighed.
"Thank you, but stop acting like your father. You shouldn't steal." you stated.
"I stole jewelry from Ms. Davis' class. I also stole some fish food too!" Alex replied laughing.
"And you call me cruel?"
Alex and Karl chuckled.
"No way Ms. Davis could afford these beauties with a pay like hers!" Karl joked.
That was the last moment you all had together, until something awful happened, which resolved to your friend group splitting up. Let's say Karl's dad(Thomas) and Alex's dad(Andrew) don't get along.
-
Thomas and Andrew were the closest of friends, but that's ancient history. Ever since Thomas snitched on Andrew, things went downhill.Karl was forced to move away with his father, just incase Andrew escapes jail.
To keep Karl and Alex away from each other, Andrew told Alex a horrible secret about Karl. Andrew felt guilty, but It was the only way for him to be safe. Alex and Karl had a huge quarrel before Karl and his father left.
"I hate you Karl! Leave and never come back." Alex yelped with tears in his eyes.
You were young and never understood what they were fighting about.
"Go to Hell, Alex."
"I wish I could kill you, Karl." Alex replied harshly.
Karl's eyes widen, and tears start to form. Karl runs up to his dad and hugs him, crying rapidly.
"Ah, son look at the time. You two have bickered enough." Karls dad claims.
He gently picks up Karl and shoves him in his car.
All you could remember happening was Karl going in his car and leaving, Alex running back home with his fists clenched, and you standing in the middle of the road confused.
-
"Mom, It's unfair." you spat out.
"I'm sorry honey, I promise Alex and Karl will be just fine."
You crossed your arms in annoyance. You were forced to say goodbye to Mexico, and most Importantly Alex and Karl. You look down at the necklace he gave, and caress the earrings. Your mom sighed and rolled your luggage to the car.
You hear a small voice from behind you. "Y/N? Are you really leaving?"
"Yes, my mom says she got a new job." you responded, trying your best not to cry.
Alex snuggled Into your arms, sobbing, making your shirt wet. "Without you, I won't be able to be happy anymore." he declared.
"Y/N, let's go." your mom says, tugging your shirt. You hopped into the car, and wave goodbye to Alex.
