her hands were shaking where she kept picking at her de-gloved fingers. sobs were wracking her body , she was determined to keep those quiet , but only so much biting before she bit open her lip, the shock of the sting and the cries poured out.

she was on the tallest cliff in monstadt.

the anxiety was eating her up , she couldn't do it anymore, she missed her brother and the longer she spent searching the more it seemed like a lost cause. she wouldn't get him back.

what if he had died ? no no aether is alive!

how would you know? i just have to hope, i know he's alive!

thats pathetic , you saw what happened, what if he was killed looking for you? what no-

its entirely possible. lumine hiccups on another gut wrenching sob, body falling to her knees, not caring the slightest she almost toppled over the cliff.

she didn't want to think her beloved brother could have possibly died searching for her.

"n-no, aether please, i-" her hands reached up to pull at the two longer strands of her hair, knees tucking up to her chest while she released more sobs.

the loudness of her thoughts stopped, her eyes clenched shut from crying so hard slowly opened, sniffling she stared at the edge of the cliff. but-

a sudden buzzing rung in her ears, drowning out all noise to a sudden deafness, her shoulders tensed, body shivering. she could join her brother.

he misses you lumine, do it.

she got to her feet quickly, wobbly, the buzzing getting louder, her head felt fuzzy , she rocked forwards dangerously as she peered over the edge. she didn't here the quick pounding of shoes running towards her-

"lumine!" that didn't sound too pleased.

she bit her lip, hesitant, she turned her head and met the calvary captains icy blue eye, anger burning hot, eye brow furrowed in anger as took to a more determined stride up the hill towards her.

no, no, lumine don't let him stop you!

"b-buh-" her head felt clearer for just minute , still hesitant.

"don't you dare do what i think you're about to do." kaeya barked, striding a bit quicker when she took a scared step back.

JUMP now! do it!

"Lumine! don't,"

"uuh- I-" tears streamed down her cheeks again when she turned to look down the cliff, she could be with her brother.

all rational thought left her brain when she turned her head to meet kaeyas widening eye as she threw herself backwards. the buzzing in her ears was over powering as time grew slow around her , staring into the blue sky all she could see in her mind was her brother laughing with her. she desperately wanted to be reunited.

she missed him, aether, please. i miss you, pleas-

she was jerked to a halt. hands limply hanging over her head , the skirt of her dress abruptly smacking her in the face , the buzzing suddenly gone and she was staring down at the grass.

pressure tightening around her ankle caused her to shove the dress back and stare right up into kaeya's face. suddenly everything caught up to her, what she did , what could have happened! she gasped and that's when kaeya grunted, pulling her up , grabbing her hand when she was half up onto the cliff again, yanking her forwards and right into his chest.

they both sat on the ground, lumine in his lap. he was shaking, her eyes widen in shock, never really getting to witness such an emotion before from the usually stoic captain. she looked up, and noticed tears pouring down his face , his arms wrapping around her shoulders.

he basically shoved her face into his chest as he pet the back of her hair. she couldn't believe she could have almost died , peeking back and around at the cliff, she would really be crying right now too, but her eyes burned and she was too shocked to really process much at the moment.

lumine was startled though when one of kaeya's gloved hands gripped the back of her hair roughly, yanking her head back up to look into his narrowed eye, still crying he glared her down.

he was absolutely breathtaking.

"I-i don't know what you were thinking, lumine. but i know that was the most idiotic thing you could have done!" kaeya growled lowly, her eyes widened but she nodded anyways.

she was absolutely terrified right now, but she felt safer than ever here in his lap.

"did you think offing yourself would have solved any problems you were troubled with? no. it was stupid, you could have d-died and I don't know.."

he cut off mid sentence, his hand falling from your neck to cover his face as he suddenly  let loose a harsh sob. she didn't know what possessed her but she suddenly shot up with such clarity ringing through her mind more than ever tonight, and pressed her lips firmly to the captains.

there was a moment of pause, kaeya growing stiff as a rock, throwing off her confidence lumine started to pull back, but a sudden firm hand cupped the back of her head and kept her close as kaeya moved his lips against hers.

it was an emotion filled frenzy of a kiss,  starting slow but building up slowly into something more rushed, teeth biting lips, gasps escaping into the cool nights air, but before it could get too heated, kaeya pulled back , smiling at lumine's dazed expression. he couldn't resist bringing his hand around to cup her cheek, thumb gently rubbing along her kiss swollen bottom lip, though his gaze turned serious a second later.

"lumine," he whispered, her big puppy dog eyes lifted to his, "please never do that again. i recently discovered after spending so much time around you maybe..i have formed feelings along the way and watching you-" he choked up again.

she had never felt more horrible in her life than right then, resting her head against his chest, fingers gently rubbing over the exposed skin there, she could feel his heart beat rapidly. she kissed the base of his throat gently.

kaeya chuckled lowly, "i could have almost missed this perfect moment if i hadn't have been walking by..." lumine chokes, tears welling in her eyes that get quickly wiped away by warm fingers. "no, no. don't cry , sweet flower~"

"i-im so s-sorry, kaeya-"

"shhhh. you'll have me from now on. i know whatever plagued your sweet little head to do something as drastic as this won't simply go away...but please promise to atleast try to talk to me before it gets this far, yes?"

lumine nodded, sniffling and hiding her face in his chest again, giggling watery as she felt soft kisses placed all over the top of her head.

"gods, even my hard headed brother will be willing to listen if i, for some reason, cannot be there too instead..everything will be alright , my dear~" he whispered the last part into her hair, gently rocking them back and forth.

a flash of red from the corner of his eye caught his attention, just at the peak of forest below, with and amused smirked he watched as an abyss mage (dead), was tossed burning to death onto the ground before it slowly disintegrated.

as it deserved.

kaeya promises the next thing that should hurt his precious little princess would get tortured, broken and obliterated to peices.
