missing the new warmth that used to occupy the other side of his bed at night was what kept diluc up endless nights.

when he first met aether, he wasn't interested. but he kept pushing, the little blonde was persistent if not anything else to break down the red heads walls and get way too close for the others liking.

everything he kept to protect his heart from getting hurt again was torn away to shreds in the sweetest way possible, it scared diluc at first.

after his father died in his arms, he was torn. learning about his "brother"? he was hurt, angry, he wanted never again to get close to another person. but he did. aether made sure to be apart of diluc's daytime routines almost everyday he was in monstadt, helping him in small ways around the winery when he wasn't there, doing most of the talking on the walks back and forth, sitting at the bar in the tavern and just genuinely asking more things about the other.

soon..it turned into night time activities too. aether started making sure he was able to tag along with him on his nightly battles , as expected of the "darknight hero"..and not surprisingly diluc let his walls completely down.

one starry night, he was dragged on a small walk with the younger through the pathways of starfell valley until they eventually reached starsnatch cliff. aether excitedly gasping at the close up of the stars from where they stood, quickly snatching one of diluc's gloved hands to drag him up to the tippy top, not giving the other a chance to process the weird feeling in his gut as he stumbled after the younger.

"look! look! they're so pretty, aren't they, luc?" aether smiled, stars glittering in his wide puppy eyes. diluc knew he was screwed after that, he couldn't deny how beautiful the other look. he was risking it all when instead of answering he stepped all the more closer.

aether, confused at the silence, tore his eyes away from the pretty stars instead to turn to the other though he was threw into shock when warm lips pressed into his. oh.

it was tense for a second, diluc panicking that he might of fucked it all up, he was ready to pull back and just stutter his way through an apology, but two smaller hands reached up and tugged him closer by his shoulders.

he gasped into the kiss, stumbling closer to grip the blondes hips, a simple peck turning passionate and enthusiastic. diluc only wished he knew he would soon regret this moment.

no letters or anything to let him know the blonde was safe when he went on his adventure to liyue, it really hurt, his heart felt it cracked in two when in the privacy of diluc's room back at the winery, moonlight the only thing shining through, the only thing showing him the tears steadily rolling down aether's cheeks, that he knew it hurt the blonde just as much to say he couldn't stay.

"luc i have to t-tell you something." he was curled into the red heads naked chest, a night of unplanned steamy love making left them both cuddling naked under the covers, the others hand slowly rubbing up and down his back. "yea, sweetheart? go ahead."

gods, it hurt aether to do this, but it needed to be said before he chickened out, he thought it would hurt worse if he just left it on a piece of paper.
