Part Five

A few hours passed since Liam had changed my bandages, and reality caught up to me in that time.

If I didn’t have a bullet wound I would’ve got up and killed him myself.

“Do you realize how many books I owned?” I had asked him.

“Kait, what is more important? Your life or your books?” he gave me a skeptical look and I could tell he was angry with me.

“My books!” I shouted, “Always my books! You just murdered like two thousand people!”

Liam bit down on his bottom lip and lowered his eyes.

“Look, Kait. I’ll buy you new books if that’ll make you happy. Trust me this is the last thing I wanted.”

Crossing my arms, I frowned. He sounded amused now, like he was going to burst out laughing any minute.

“Like hell you did. I don’t believe you.” I tilted my nose up and turned my head again.

“You don’t have to believe me, but you have to understand—“

“I understand perfectly!” I yell again, cutting him off, “You’re a life ruin-er! You get your kicks on flirting up girls and then harming them so that they have no other choice but to live with you because you can’t get a girl without kidnapping her.”

A crashing echoed throughout the room, before I even had time to look up what had broken, Liam was on top of me; his face was inches from mine. His pupils were dilated, and instead of the warm chocolate brown I was getting used to, they were black.

“Don’t you ever dare tell me about myself.” He said. His eyes lowered to my lips and then back to my eyes, “You have no idea what I’ve been through.”

      And then he kissed me.

His hand went to the back of my neck and pulled me closer to him. He bit down on my bottom lip gently, trying to get me to kiss back.

Instead I slapped him.

He pulled away, “What the hell?!” he shouted.

“You deserved it!” I yelled back at him. I touched my bottom lip, wiping away nothing. They were still tingling from his kiss.

Liam rolled his eyes and got up from the bed.

“That was my first kiss.” I admitted after a few minutes of silence. I was still pissed and I could tell that he was, too.

“Really?” he asked, his voice got quiet.

I nodded my head, “Yes really. Now get out before I get up and hit you again.”

His jaw clenched and he shrugged his shoulders. “Do you want pizza?” he asked quietly.

He didn’t wait for my answer before walking out of the room. I heard a car outside start and tires squealing out of the driveway.

My bad mood instantly vanished after a few minutes of quiet and I got up from the bed.

Ignoring the throbbing pain in my side, I rubbed my lips and wondered out of the room. Whatever he asked I wasn’t going to admit how his kiss made my heart melt inside my chest. To be honest, it was everything (besides the fighting) I wanted my first kiss to be.

Except you know, I had always thought it would be more of a life-or-death situation kiss.

I regretted hitting him now. He probably wouldn’t even try to kiss me again. I can be so stupid sometimes.

I searched around the house until I found Liam’s room. There were jeans and shirts on the floor. The bed was a mess and some drawers were half-open from the dresser. I wondered over to it and looked at my reflection in the mirror.

Holy crap, is that what I looked like? My long brown hair was string-like and hung in clumps around my face. Spots of dirt covered my face, and when I looked closer a pimple was starting on my cheek.

Even throughout all the dirt and everything, my green eyes seemed to sparkle a little bit.

That made me smile a little, despite the fact that my house just burned down with all of my beautiful books and I was now living with a psychopath.

“Are you enjoying yourself?” His voice made me jump and I turned to look at him. Liam was leaning up against the door frame, his arms were crossed over his chest and a smile was playing on his lips.

“I thought you left for pizza,” I said quietly.

“The pizza shop is just down the road from my house. There was no line.” He pushed himself up from leaning against the door and his arms dropped to his side. Crossing over the room, his hand went to my side where the bandages were.

“You shouldn’t be walking.” He said softly, lifting my shirt. Blood soaked through the bandages and I bit down on my bottom lip, suddenly feeling very dizzy.

“I didn’t want to be cooped up in that room anymore.” I replied.

Liam sighed, “I might have to take you to a real doctor.” He mumbled under his breath. His eyes met my face, they were no longer black but they were brown again.

“I don’t need one,” I mumbled, “What I need is a shower and a hot slice of pizza.”

He laughed a little, “Will you be careful with your side?” he said, pulling his hand away and letting the shirt fall back into place.

I nodded my head, “Yeah, sure.”

He raised his eyebrow, “Alright… I’ll leave some clothes out for you.” He pulled away and went right to his drawers and pulled out a pair of boxer briefs and one of his shirts. “I don’t have a bra.”

“That’s okay,” I answer, biting down on my lip even harder. This was getting more awkward by the minute. I took the clothes from his hands. “Just point me towards the bathroom.”

“Right there,” he said, nodding his head towards a door that was on the other side of his bed. I assumed it was a closet, but okay.

“Thanks,” I whispered. I turned on my heel and walked around the bed and into the bathroom. Closing the door behind me, I let out a long breath and tried to calm down my racing heart.

Damn him.
