The third and last task would involve the Champions running through the maze, facing obstacles and to try retrieve the Triwizard Cup. All four Champions assembled outside the Maze, and were told in case of an emergency they were to magic a white firework by casting the spell 'Reducto' into the air and a teacher would come and rescue them as their surrender. The first person to retrieve the cup will be declared the Triwizard Champion. They notified everyone that spectators will have no knowledge of what's going on inside the maze.

Cedric paced the Champions tent as you tried to calm him down. The Maze had really thrown a curve ball into his confidence and the protective wall that he once held up strong had started to come crashing down.

"Cedric listen," you gently grabbed his shaking hands, "You'll be amazing. The Cedric Diggory I love is strong, courageous and quite possibly the best Wizard I've ever met."

His eyes paced around the room. Your prep talk was a failure. Before you could try continue, the first cannon went for the Champion's to make their way to their starting positions. Cedric broke away from your grip but you grabbed his hand once again - spinning him around.

"Maybe this will help." You smiled, and before he could react you brought your lips to his. For a moment, the world froze. He brought his hands to the back of you head, supporting it as you kissed deeper and deeper.

Once you had broke off, he spoke, "Lucy-"

You cut him off. "Cedric it's you. It's always been you."

Instead of replying, he kissed you again.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

-

You took your seat next to Luna in the stands as the champions waited for the second cannon.

"You seem flustered, Lucy." Luna observed, reading your facial expressions.

"Ha! Me, flustered? You must be kidding." You blushed.

She looked at you.

"Fine. Me and Cedric might have kissed...Twice."

Luna turned around to watch the Champions. "I always knew you two loved each other. You were just too oblivious to see it."

You chuckled to yourself. Luna was right, you had been oblivious.

Just as you thought that, the second cannon went off and all four Champions raced into the Maze.

-

It had been just under three hours now, and you were starting to get worried. Fleur had forfeited from the maze but apart from that, everyone else was still inside. Including Cedric. Hermione had volunteered to go see what the issue was in the surveillance tent and you were waiting anxiously.

It shouldn't have taken three hours. What exactly was inside that maze?! What if Cedric was hurt - or he had his vocal cords ripped out so he couldn't cast the spell? You were at the edge of your seat.

Suddenly, you saw Hermione's out of control curls in the midst of the crowd and motioned her over.

"Hermione what is going on?" You asked.

"Somethings happened in the maze. They say-" She cut herself off, realizing she had said too much.

"What are they saying Hermione? What's happened?"

"They've lost two of the trackers."

Relief flooded through you. It's probably just fallen off, or it had been ripped off in combat. 'It's fine, they're fine' you tried to convince yourself.

You sat back down just as two figures appeared on the field. One who was wearing yellow and black stripes.

He was back. He had done it! Cedric was safe, and he was a Champion!

That was until an blood curdling scream filled up the area. One of the figures was one the floor and wasn't getting up. The same figure who was wearing yellow and black stripes.

Confusion filled your head. Why wasn't Cedric getting up? Why wasn't he moving? And why were all the teachers crowding around him?

Until it clicked.

You had never understood what the phrase 'like a slow motion car crash' meant until now. Another scream had been released - It was so loud that it hurt your ears. That scream matched your voice. You didn't control your legs to stand up from your seat and run towards the field. You didn't feel the arms grabbing you, trying to pull you back. You just watched it all happen, like some sick, twisted movie.

Except this wasn't a movie.

You threw your body over his. People shouldn't be spectating him like he was some sort of artifact in a museum. He was a human being for gods sake! Not some spectre.

"He's just asleep everyone, it's fine." You shouted. You shook his shoulders, trying to wake up. "WAKE UP CEDRIC." You screamed. Laughing, you faced the concerned eyes of your teachers and peers that looked at you, "Everyone it's fine! You can back away now, he's just pulling a joke! I said back away!"

"Lucy, he's not going to wake up." Someone spoke.

"No no no no, he will! He will! I promise. He wouldn't leave me, he wouldn't die. He can't die! The hero never dies." You shouted back at them, but you felt tears gushing down your cheeks.

You couldn't believe this. You wouldn't accept this. He was dead.

Your best friend, your boyfriend. Your soulmate.

Gone - Forever.
