Jason's POV

I'm walking around a big empty-feeling room. It's very dark, allowing me to only see minor things due to a small source of light coming from a crack in the ceiling. My hands are sweaty, and I'm breathless. I'm holding my knife, which I always have with me. I look everywhere around me, looking for him.

He knows I'm here, so why isn't he attacking me? I tell myself that I'm ready, that it'll be okay. I've fought him millions of times. Of course, I never survived any, but I still have to fight.

I clutch my knife harder, as if it were going to leave me, saying, "This one's on you, buddy. Good luck!" I take a deep breath, and wait. How much time has it been? Minutes? Hours? Days? I don't know, but the more I wait, the more the fear is killing me.

"It's okay Jason, I'm here." I hear a girl voice say.

I turn around, to see Alexa, my girlfriend. She's holding a knife, which has blood on it. Her face is dirty, and she looks really pale.

I run to her and hug her, and she does the same. Her hair smells like strawberries, which I don't understand why. She's been gone for such a long time, but she's still perfect.

"Alexa, you can't be here." I say, pulling away. "It's way too dangerous. I can't let you fight him."

"I know, Jason. I'm here for now. But I'm leaving soon. Really soon. Actually, I'm leaving now." She says, looking down.

"You're not leaving for two years again, are you?" I say, my voice cracking.

"Jason, I-" Alexa looks up at me, and is about to say something, but her eyes grow big as she looks behind me.

I turn around, preparing for the worst. My knife suddenly feels really heavy, but I still use all my strength to hold it up.

In front of me stands my worst nightmare. You can fight him, I think. For Alexa.

"Jason," he says, with a grave voice. "Long time I've seen you."

Like I do every time I'm about to fight him, I say, "Why do you want to kill me?"

"Do I have to explain again?" He says.

"Please," I sarcastically say.

"No time for that." He pushes the question out of the way. He looks at Alexa, and says, "Oh, this is the girl that you've been missing?"

I step in front of her, and point my knife towards him. "If you touch her I'll-"

"You'll what, kill me?" He laughs, and grabs Alexa as if she were a doll.

"Jason!" She screams.

He drops Alexa on the floor, which must be twelve metres of height. I hear a loud crash, and see her laying at an awkward position on the ground, not showing any movement.

"No!" I shout. I run towards her, but he kicks me in the stomach before I get to do anything.

I hold my stomach, trying to breath. As I get up, he says, "Don't waste your time on trying to win. You'll just lose, Jason. Just like your mother." He laughs, as if it were a big joke.

"What has she ever done to you? Why do you want to hurt my family?" I say. The more time I keep a conversation going, the more time I get to live.

He walks up to me, and I don't budge. My terror is getting the best of me, and all I can do now is stare at him.

"My family?" He says. "Do I have to remind you that I'm part of your family too?"

"N-no." I say. I tell myself to stop shaking, or I'll look weak. You already are weak. My mind reminds me. I look at Alexa, who still hasn't moved. Please be alive, I think.
