Befriending the Heartbreaker

Chapter Six

Mina pulled Sero down the long road that looped around in the front of the school. Mina's bright grin stayed the entire time they ran there. Once they had gotten there Mina pulled Sero to the back of the line that had been there in front of the token machine. They stayed silent for a while but as Sero realized Mina still had her hand interlaced with his he felt the tingling feeling of blush spread across his face. He attempted to pull away from Mina's hand but as they disconnected Mina noticed, grabbed his hand and winked at him making the pink color on his face become brighter. They had gotten to the second place in line, giving Sero a chance to finally pull his hand away while Mina pulled out some money to pay for tokens. He reached into his pocket but as he pulled out his wallet Mina interrupted him.

"Nope! I'll pay for the tokens!" She said putting her hand where Sero held his wallet and slowly moving it down. 

Mina slid a twenty dollar bill into the token machine as forty token poured out. She quickly seperated them into two piles of twenty and slid them into her token bucket she had grabbed. Sero put the remaining twenty in his own bucket. Him and Mina began to walk around the arcade trying to find things to play. In the back of the arcade they found a few machines lined up, which happened to be claw machines of different anime series. Sero examined most of them until he came to the last one in the row, and found Mina staring at one. The machine was based of Haikyuu, inside were small plushies. There were four rows containing three plushies in each but Mina seemed to have her eyes set on the Kenma one which also happened to have cat ears in the back row.

"You wanna try and win one?" Sero asked approaching her.

Mina looked at him and nodded.

"Yeah, but I suck at claw machines." She awkwardly smiled back.

Sero took a breath before picking up the two tokens required to play from his bucket. He moved to in front of the claw machine as Mina moved to the side. 

"Which one?" He asked once again. 

Mina's eyes lit up upon seeing him out the two tokens into the slot.

"The Kenma one in the back!" She smiled pointing two it.

Sero gripped the handle as he moved it to the back until it appeared to be hanging over the plushie. Before he hit the button to let the grabber drop he looked over at Mina to make sure it was positioned correctly.

"I little to the left and back!" She suggested looking back at Sero.

Sero adjusted the claw to be positioned as Mina suggested. He once again looked at her as she gave a swift nod and he hit the button to drop the claw. Surprisingly it dropped right over the plushie and picked it up cleanly, as it approached the box it began to open slightly making Sero grip the handle a bit more, despite having no affect. The claw dropped the plushie, but just close enough to the box to make it tumble in. Sero ungripped the handle smiling as he kneeled down to pick up the plushie. He stood back up and immediately faced Mina to hand it to her. Mina's hand went over her heart as she almost stumbled back from surprise. Her face began dusted with a light pink color. She quickly shook her head and took the plushie from Sero's hand. 

"Well I feel bad for just taking this soo..." She began to speak. 

She took a look around the arcade until spotting another claw machine with Marvel superheroe keychains contained in it. She took Sero's hand holding the plushie in the other and led him over to the other machine. This certain claw machine was luckily a pay to win one, so Mina knew she'd be able to win in. She inserted the six tokens needed to play and took ahold of the handle. After around three tried, finally the specific keychain she had been aiming for was dropped inside the box. She reached in and held it out to Sero. In her hand laid a small Spider-Man keychain. 

"H-how'd you know this was my favorite superhero?" Sero questioned with shock. 

Sero took it from her hand as Mina refused to answer until he had taken it.

"One time in class I saw you sketching him!" She chuckled.

Sero could feel the blush returning to his face. To distract himself he glanced down at his watch, seeing it had actually only been around twenty minutes. 

"Now, I wanna see if I can beat you in skeeball!" She cheered pumping her fist up. 

Sero softly smiled back at her and smiled, as he followed Mina to the skeeball game near to corner of the arcade.
