Joe's Bar

Set like 1x01, and before then. When they met and their first night together.

Merediths POV

Tomorrow I start my first day as a surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital, and where do I go the night before a sleepless day? A bar.

I sit down at the bar and a friendly bartender approaches to take my order.

'Tequila please'

'Straight tequila? Really? You're gonna be sorry in the morning' he replies.

'I'm always sorry in the morning.' I reply with a slight smile, attempting to lighten the mood. 'But, tomorrow I start my first day of work so, keep them coming.'

A man approaches. He's good looking. Correction, very good looking.

'Double scotch single malt please' he says.

I quickly glance and he smiles.

'So is this a good place to hang out?'

I awkwardly reply; 'I wouldn't know, I've never been here before'

'Oh you know what? I haven't either. First time here. I'm new in town. Never been to Seattle. But I've got a job soon.'

I continue to look straight ahead.

'Ah, you're ignoring me.'

I turn to face him. God his eyes are stunning. 'Um, trying to' I reply

'You shouldn't ignore me.'

I ask 'why not?'

I smile. 'Really?'

'Oh yes'

'So if I know you, I'll love you?'

'Oh yes'

'You really like yourself huh?'

'Just hiding my pain.'

We share a few laughs before he asks; 'so what's your story'

To which I reply; 'I don't have a story, I'm just a girl in a bar'

He smiles, softly, and replies 'I'm just a guy in a bar'

We keep eye contact for what feels like forever. We sit in comfortable silence as we finish our drinks and the round after that. He inches closer and places his hand on my thigh and whispers soft in my ear; 'you wanna get out of here?' I smile and nod, paying the bartender then taking his hand and exiting the bar.

He hails a cab and softly tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. I smile and our long pause of staring in each others eyes are cut short by the taxi arriving. We both hop in the back and I begin rubbing his thigh. He smiles and grunts softly as my hand moves closer to the bulge forming in his pants.
