"Gavin get your book bag. You're not going to be late to school again", I say.
It's been a few months since I got partial custody of Gavin. His grandmother has her own scheduled days of when she can see him, depending upon when she wants him to come visit her, but other than that I'm raising him.
"I'm coming Olivia", he says, rushing down the stairs.
I observe him and smile. He looks more and more like G everyday.
"You look so cute in your little vest."
"Olivia stoppppp. You're doing too much."
"How am I doing too much?"
"Because I'm a guy. Guys don't like stuff like that."
"Boy I don't care. You still handsome", I say, kissing his cheek.
He grins and rubs his hands together. "I know."
I roll my eyes. Yeah, he really is like his dad.
"Go ahead and get in the car so I can take you to school."
"I want uncle Kaine to take me to school."
"Well uncle Kaine is-
"Ight. I'm ready", Kaine says, walking down the stairs.
"Umm ready for what?"
"Umm I'm taking my nephew to school. What it look like?"
I roll my eyes. "Alright. Make sure he has his seatbelt on, don't speed, and have him at school ON TIME. Understood?"
"Yeah yeah", Kaine says, waving me off. "We still speeding in that muhfucka. Ain't that right?", Kaine whispers.
"SIR I HEARD THAT! DO WHAT I SAID!"
"Ok. Ok damn. Drink some coffee or something. You seem unstable", he laughs.
"Whatever. Have a good day at school", I say, kissing Gavin's cheek again.
"That's that sweet shit", Kaine comments, rolling his eyes.
"If you want a kiss on the cheek, just say that."
"Don't nobody want a kiss from you."
"Yeah whatever. Just get Gavin to school on time."
"Ight."
Kaine grabs Gavin's book bag and they both leave out the door.
I walk up the steps and head towards Mackenzie's room. As soon as I enter, I see Mack rocking her back to sleep.
"That's why she's so spoiled."
"Dawg leave me alone. I love this lil girl."
"I already know. I'm about to leave for work. You need anything?"
