Ghosted

9 2 5

Out of reach, out of sight

Lost any sign of light

Just like a phantom

Holding hearts for ransom

Disappear into the night

On the road, in flight

Never found a safe place

So, looked for more space

A spirit appearing in dreams

When nothing is what it seems

Faded into a mist

Someone no one will miss

The footsteps remain present

Along with a transparent essence

There's banging on the door

Footprints on the floor

But no sign of a face

It can never be traced

The wind can easily move me

Always remaining unseen

But I like the dark

Wild dreams, hidden sparks

Finding these wonderful things

When not chained to reality

Unhinged but completely free

When no one is calling me

Muffled voices not getting through

Now it's just me and you

An altered reflection

Recording life lessons

The cards have been dealt

As I mirror myself

Had to be gone to belong

Every other plot was wrong

The story didn't add up

It was incomplete, it wasn't enough

Only smiling through camera lenses

Time increases like expenses

Like a debt I owe

To people I don't know

That's why it's only my shadow

That's allowed to glow

Nothing left to hold

Swept away in the cold

Can't speak, can't leak

A truth that's so bleak

Was I ever there?

Did those voices care?

Or was everything

Something worth imagining

Just another tall tale

We all know well

But love to hear on repeat

Eyes widen as hearts beat

It is everyone's nightmare

When no one is there

But being completely alone

Help me find home

No pride to be boasted

Distance is when I'm closest

Had happiness, but someone stole it

So, I left the world ghosted
