"Damn, they ripped money off me again," Yukine mumbled as he put back his empty wallet in his pocket.
In this remote village, there were no decent commodities or luxuries of life and more than half of the population who lived there were poor farmers... just like Yukine's.
His parents worked in farms all day to provide for him and his 4 siblings. Due to poverty, Yukine was the only among his siblings who attended school since he was the oldest among them.
Finally reaching his home, he put a smile on his face as he opened the door, "I'm home!" he announced and within a few moments, there came the sound of running from all over the house as all of Yukine's siblings came up and hugged him.
"Welcome home, Onii-chan!" they all said in unison.
(Onii-chan = Big Brother)
Yukine smiled as he patted their heads, ruffling their hair, "You guys must be hungry. I'll prepare dinner," he said, rolling up his sleeve as he dragged his body with the youngest on his back, the 2nd youngest hugging him from front, and the two other older ones on each of his leg.
"Onii-chan, Rem broke my toy."
"It's because Ryu nii-chan hit me."
"Onii-chan, I drew an elephant today. Do you want to see?"
"Onii-chan, I'll help you with the dinner."
Yukine smiled, "Okay, okay, I'll listen to you all. Just get off of me first," he said before chuckling.
All of his siblings got off him and got busy in their own stuff. Yukine heaved a sigh of relief as he asked the sister younger than him to help him out before he started to wash the vegetables.
It had been a few minutes of Yukine preparing the dinner when there was a knock on door. The young ones hurried to Yukine and followed him from behind as he dried his hands on his apron and went to open the door.
As he opened it, there stood a man in business suit there, "Good evening, Mr. Yukine."
"G-Good evening. How can I help you?" Yukine asked, a hint of confusion in his tone because most of the people who can to their house were either the neighbourhood children or their parents' fellow workers.
The man cleared his throat as he took out a card and handed it to Yukine, "I apologize for my unannounced visit. My name is Kunikida and I work for an anime industry in Tokyo, named Kyoto Animation."
Yukine took his card and glanced over it, "Kyoto Animation? You mean one of the most prominent anime industries in whole Japan!?" he asked in shock.
The man nodded, "Yes, indeed. Today, we received the character sketches you drew and our directing manager took a liking to it. Would you be kind enough to accept our proposal of working for our company?" he asked as he handed him an employment form.
