Chapter 24

After declaring that he had captured Shindou and that Miyamura was dead, Jacob left.

Hori, Toru, Sakura and Remi couldn't believe his words. In fact, they didn't want to believe it.

But at the back of their heads, they knew that there was a big chance of his words being true.

"Tonight..." Toru said, "Tonight, we're going to escape."

Sakura turned her head to Toru, "Toru, do you have a plan?"

Toru rubbed the back of his head, "I'm still thinking."

"If it was under normal circumstances, we could just force our way out. But that sly Jacob saw it beforehand and separated us," Remi said, clenching her fists.

"That..." Hori said, turning everyone's attention to her, "We're going to use his card against him."

Jacob was going through some papers when he heard a knock on the door.

"Come in."

Ryan walked inside, closing the door behind him, "Sir, the Vampire named Remi wants to talk to you."

"Remi?" Jacob asked, looking up at Ryan.

Ryan nodded, "She says she will give away any information in exchange for getting to meet her husband."

Jacob put away the documents, slumping in his chair before intertwining his hands, "So that's what she said..." he trailed off in thought.

"It's probably a trap. A pitiful attempt at running away." Ryan said.

"That's probably it," Jacob said before standing up, "But they should already know of the dangers and risks. After living all those years, I'm hoping for them to at least not be this dumb."

"Are you going to go with their plan?" Ryan asked.

Jacob hummed in thought.

"First, let's go hear what information she has to offer." Jacob said.

Ryan nodded.

The two then walked to cell. On the way, Jacob told everyone to be on high alert especially the guards watching the security camera footages.

"So..." Jacob said, crossing his arms as he stopped before the prison cell, "I heard you got a deal for me, Remi."

Hori was sitting in a corner, whereas Toru and Sakura were standing around Remi in a defensive manner.

Remi gestured the others and mumbled, "It's going to be fine," before moving forward to the front. She gulped, "I-I'll tell you how we vampires form an eternal bond with the human we choose."

Jacob hummed in amusement, "Even though there have been theories of how you vampires do that, there haven't been certain word or evidence of it. So if you're willing to tell me the truth..." he trailed off, glaring at Remi before smiling, "Then it sounds like a pretty nice deal!"

Jacob then clasped his hands, "And, what do you want in return?"

"S-Sengoku. I-I want to see Sengoku." Remi uttered.,

Jacob's eyes narrowed and he remained silent.

A minute later, he sighed, "Even though I know you have ulterior motives, but I guess letting just YOU visit him ONCE under surveillance won't be too hard. I mean if we fail to even do this and you get the better of us, then it just means were all a bunch of losers!" Jacob exclaimed and started laughing.

"Oh dear, that was..." he finally stopped laughing and wiped a tear from the corner of his eye.

"Open the door." Jacob ordered.

A guard stepped up and opened the door, letting Remi walk out.

"Then, shall we?" Jacob asked as he smiled at Remi.

Remi nodded in a nervous manner.

And just like that, Jacob and his men took Remi away from the cell.

"Just so you know..." Jacob said as they reached the room where Sengoku and the rest were kept, "The former humans have still not woken up."

Remi's eyes widen in shock, "What?! But their healing ability-"

"Takes this long," Jacob cuts her words, "You guys would have also woken up a lot later if not for our doctor's help."

"Why are we the only one you decided to help-" Remi's words were again cut off as Jacob opened the door.

"Now chop chop. We don't have all day," he said as he walked inside the room.

Remi followed behind him and looked around the spacious white room. The room was lit very bright and was empty for except a bed in the middle surrounded by a bunch of large machines.

Remi's eyes teared up, "Sengoku!" she exclaimed before running up to the bed. Sengoku laid there, unconscious.

His breath and vital signs were stable, the minor scars on his body healed. His broken bones and ripped off skin from his left side of face another matter though.

As Remi started sobbing and mumbling words to Sengoku, Jacob walked around in boredom, sometimes whistling or scratching his ear.

'This is boring.' Jacob thought.

A minute later, Jacob glanced at his wristwatch, "Okay, time's up. Let's go back now."

"But it's only been-" Jacob once again, shamelessly cut Remi's words as he put his hands on her shoulders from behind.

"Come on, now. Patients needs rest," he said as he started pushing her out.

Soon, the two arrived back at the cell.

"Here you go, home sweet home," Jacob said as he pushed Remi inside the cell, "Now... Start speaking."

"Guess old man Ian's theory was correct," Jacob mumbled after Remi had finished speaking.

"Well, now that we're done here, I'll be off," Jacob said as he turned around.

"Wait."

Jacob stopped in his steps. He turned his head around to look at the corner of the cell from where the voice came.

"Miss Hori. What would someone of your accord have to say to someone as lowly as humble ME?" Jacob said, a playful smile across his face.

"Drop the act," Hori said as she slowly stood up and walked towards the front of the cell, closer to Jacob.

"Make a deal with me." Hori said.

Jacob smirked, "I may not have the knowledge of a 1000 years but it's your mistake to consider me that foolish. No, I will not make any deal with you-"

"You said Miyamura is dead. But both of us know that vampires don't die." Hori said.

At her words, Jacob's face became poker.

"But, it is also true that Miyamura is about to die... If not already dead." Hori continued.

"What's your point?" Jacob asked.

"I'll tell you... How vampires die. Or if I were to borrow your words, 'How to kill vampires.'"
