Adeline was laying down on Julie's bed in her room, reading a book called A Wrinkle in Time. Julie had given Adeline permission to be in her room since she had been the only one to actually be there for her when the boys had bailed on her, so Adeline took advantage and when she wanted to be away from the boys she would come to Julie's room and read or listen to music.
Feeling a shift in the air, Adeline turned to look at the door. Seeing her boyfriend and her brother there, Adeline raised her brows. "Yes?" The boys walked to her, Adeline sitting up and patting her white skirt down. Reggie kneeled down beside her, grabbing her hands. "We screwed up again and we need your help," he said.
Adeline pursed her lips as Alex somewhat gently kicked Reggie in the back, "Get up, idiot." Alex sighed before he continued on. "Julie blew up at Luke and we know she won't talk to us alone. So we need you to come with us."
Alex was looking at his sister with hopeful eyes. "What happened now?" Adeline asked, furrowing her brows. She had only been gone for like a day and the boys had somehow found themselves into more trouble. "Luke booked us a gig for tonight, and we tried to apologize to Julie with it, but she got really upset really quick. She called Luke selfish, but we all know it isn't true. You remember what today is, right?" Alex asked, getting a nod from his sister. "We want to show her who the song Unsaid Emily is about, but we need you to be there with us so she will listen."
Adeline sighed. She stood up and wrapped her arms around her little brother. "Ah, what would you do without me, honestly? I'm like your lucky charm, life saver - -"
"I'm dead."
"And overall your best sister."
"You're my only sister."
Adeline ignored what Alex had said and pressed a kiss to his cheek, making him groan and lean back to try to avoid it. Adeline then pulled Reggie into the hug then held them at arms length. "Y'all screwed up and now you're my prisoners." She laughed before the three teleported to Julie's living room where she was studying on the couch.
"Hey, uh, you got a second?" Alex asked her, Julie putting her binder to the side and putting her legs onto the couch. "Oh my Gosh, she can't see us anymore!" Reggie exclaimed. Annabelle looked at her boyfriend and shook her head, Reggie nodding. Annabelle walked past her brother to sit on the arm of the couch closest to Julie. "Jules?" She spoke softly, Julie looking up at her. "The boys have something they really need to tell you."
Julie looked at the boys and shook her head. "I already told you that I'm done with the band." Alex walked over so he was closer, standing beside his older sister, "Yeah. We know, alright? But before you decide that forever, we just. . We wanted you to know that Luke isn't as selfish as you think he is."
"Yeah, you've got him all wrong." Reggie spoke up. Julie scoffed before she looked back down at her books. Annabelle exhaled softly, "Jules, I know you're really mad at them right now. I get it, they tick me off all the time and make me absolutely bonkers. But, they want to prove to you that Luke really isn't what you picture."
"You remember that song Emily?" Alex asked. Julie looked at him. "Can we at least show you who it's actually about?"
Julie hesitated for a moment but then silently agreed. The ghosts lead her to the backyard of Luke's parents house where they saw through the glass window - - seeing his parents getting a cake ready and Luke sitting on the counter with his knees to his chest, tears in his red eyes. "So, Emily's his mom?" Julie asked.
"Yeah," the younger Mercer teen replied, "Yeah, Luke comes here a lot."
"He thinks we don't know, but. . We've been following him." Reggie added from behind the tree he was hiding behind. "All he does is just hang out like this and watch them. They never really do anything though."
