JUNOS POV

"That's it. We're dead."

Was all that was going through my mind as we ran through the streets of Moscow, Russia. Being chased by multiple owners of carts we stole food from. Running past another food cart, I quickly snatched up two pears just for the hell of it as my sister and I continued to run to our home. Hell, it's not even a home more of a lump of tarp, but it's our home.

Right, you don't know us, let me introduce ourselves.

My name is Juno, and I have a twin sister named Venus. Fun fact we were named after two Roman goddesses by our Father, a deadbeat one at that but, let me talk about us for once.

We're identical but our personalities, that's a whole different story. We're both very dark people but my sister, sheesh. Darkness is all that surrounds her. I mean she can't even take my jokes anymore and man am I funny.

We both have pitch black raven hair going down to our butts, but we usually put them in two thick French braids. We have pale bluish almost grayish eyes, and we're 14. Yeah, you read that right, 14.

Now, here's the kicker. How did two, 14 year old girls end up on the streets of Moscow, homeless and abandoned? Well, I'll let my sister explain that but for now, let's get back to this shit-show.

We continued running for some time till we lost the people chasing us. I realized in that instant, that we were home.

At the edge of the city, right between a marketplace and a highway, lie our humble abode. It's small and has tarps covering the entrance but when you step inside, WOWZA it has a chandelier three HUGE couches, a bathroom the size of a lake, a king sized bed and a HUGE kitchen!

Just kidding.

You walk in (more like crawl but I feel generous) and there lay two dirty pillows, a rug that had some sort of stain on it, a heater in the back corner for winter (that looks like it's been thrown downstairs multiple times), a small stove the size of small tire, and the top of a table. Yet we call it home because it is to be honest, our home.

I turn to my left when my sister suddenly speaks up.

"Juno, we have to go to Giovanna's stall, it's almost noon and we need some sort of education."

I nod and we begin walking to the stall.

Some backstory is that there's this really nice old lady named Giovanna, she teaches us the basics and other things that we need in life since she was a teacher. In return, we steal fruit and other food for her. I've asked her before why she's even teaching us since, let's be honest, learning is more valuable than some rotten fruit but all she said was that we had potential.

Whatever that cryptic crap was about, I didn't know, buuuuut I did know that she sells beautiful jewelry which she's given to us once before for our birthdays. That's how we have a set of matching anklets.

They're very minimalistic though, so that they don't get stolen from us. I have the silver thin band and Venus has the gold one.

-10 minutes later-

We approach the stall, and she greets us with a smile.

"Здравствуйте, дорогие. Как дела в этот прекрасный летний день?"
She says with a slight Italian accent.

(Hello dears. How are you on this beautiful summer day?)

We've always asked her where she got her accent from but all she says is that it's "in the past" so, we don't push her any further.

"Все идет нормально! мы принесли вам груши, чтобы вы не умерли с голоду"
My sister tells her while I look around her store.

(So far so good. We've brought you some pears, so you don't starve to death.)

I smile at her response and take a seat on the floor ready to learn.

She's given us books to read and has always pushed us to learn even if we don't want to. We do anyways though since we know it's important. Thanks to her, my sister and I know 20 languages each. We also have our photographic memories which help us so that's always a bonus.

We continued learning until the sun went down when she told us,

"Girls, I've decided to teach you some self-defense."

Little did we know what was to come...

This came to no surprise to my sister and I since a week ago, some man tried to steal us (and my guess sell us) in which he almost ended up succeeding till Venus kicked his knee in, giving us time to run as fast as we could to Giovanna's stall.

My sister and I were ecstatic to say the least. We always wanted to learn how to defend ourselves physically.

Mentally, you couldn't break us.

To say the least, growing up in the harsh streets of Russia, you either learn to become strong and show no emotion, or you become weak and let your emotions be the downfall of it all. I've been told by people that my sister and I have a "dead" look in our eyes and that they can never read us.

Good.

For all I need is my sister. She can read me like a book, no matter how hard I try to hide my true emotions, she somehow always knows them.
