[Gemma's POV]
After lunch I went upstairs to get ready to go shopping. I didn't have a great variety of clothes, I wasn't really into clothes and makeup and everything. I threw on some jeans, a white cami top and a long cardigan with some trainers and took my hair out of my ponytail so it was fully down. I went into Nat's room to ask to borrow a bag and found her talking to Steve by the window, when I walked in they both turned around to look at me. Nat looked sad and Steve angry. 'Nat can I borrow a-' I started, before I felt the tension in the room.
'Tony is letting you go to school?!' Steve asked in horror, I opened my mouth but no words came out.
'I didn't want to but he insists, and maybe it'll be a good idea...' I trailed off as I could feel steve getting more and more angry.
'If you don't want to you, you shouldn't have to! What is he thinking and Nat you knew?' he continued to shout, Nat had a similar reaction to me and opened her mouth to speak but all that came out were a few words lacking fluency. 'Steve I'll be fine! I'm going shopping right now to get used to being out alone.' I could tell maybe this wasn't the right thing to say and he stormed out. Natasha and I looked at one another in shock.I borrowed a black purse from Nat and made my way outside where Happy was waiting. As I walked through the foyer I saw dad and Steve talking. Steve seemed a lot calmer now, thankfully, and he gave me a smile as I walked out the front door. I got in the car with Happy and we drove into the city.
Happy parked the car about a 10 minute walk away from the shops and I walked off. I was surprisingly more nervous than I thought I'd be. It was strange being outside of the house with nobody watching over my shoulder.
After I had been shopping for around an hour, I got hungry for a snack and came across a small deli called Delmar's and decided to get a sandwich. As I walked in I was distracted looking at the menu and I accidentally bumped into a guy and all of my shopping bags fell. The guy managed to catch one really quickly- I don't think I had ever seen anyone catch something so fast. I crouched down, 'I'm so sorry!' I apologised and he crouched down to help me pick up my things.
'No! No! You shouldn't be apologising I'm the reason all your bags fell!' He replied quickly, his voice was higher than I expected, and I looked up and our eyes met. He was super cute.He had brown curly hair and gorgeous brown eyes you could fall into. He had a shirt on that had 2 atoms talking to each other, the first saying 'I lost an electron' with the other saying 'are you positive?' It was a physics joke, we stood up and I laughed slightly, 'I like your T-shirt.' I said pointing towards his obviously muscular chest. I could see his biceps through his tight hoodie. 'Thanks!' He replied, laughing slightly. I could feel myself blushing and looked down hoping he didn't notice and tucked my hair behind my ear. I looked back up and he was still staring at me and then he must have realised because he suddenly looked away and then at his watch, 'Dammit!' He said and grabbed his sandwich off the counter hastily, 'I have to go! It was super nice meeting you and I'm sorry for about knocking all of your stuff on the floor!' he said enthusiastically and rushed out, 'Okay, bye...' I said trailing off as the mysterious boy ran out of the deli. I hoped I would see him again, but the chances were unlikely.
