I yawned, sitting up. I wasn't able to fall asleep until late the previous night. However, my insomnia didn't bother me. I often found it much easier to think at night. There was something calming about knowing that I was one of the only people awake, almost as if the world was wholly mine.
The light blue fabric that draped over my bed canopy style shielded the other 6th year Ravenclaw girls from my vision. I could hear Hazel snoring and laughed to myself. My uniform was laid out on my trunk, freshly pressed and ready to be put on. I smiled, excited for the new beginning of the year. The slate was clean, ready to be written on.
I moved to the connecting bathroom, washing my face and applying my makeup. I took extra time to make sure my winged eyeliner was perfectly even before brushing my hair and pulling it into a ponytail. Once back in the dormitory, I stripped out of my pajamas and pulled on my robes, slipping my feet into my favorite pair of black Oxfords. The rest of the girls had begun to stir, slowly getting up. "Good morning, Sawyer", a sweet girl with curly blonde hair smiled as she slipped out of bed. "Morning, Lacey", I replied.
"Make sure Hazel gets out of bed, will you?", I smiled to myself, scooping up my black book bag and tucking my wand securely in it. I loved my wand, it reflected me perfectly. It was strong and resilient, made of ebony and a hair from the mane of an old unicorn. It had small circles carved into all the way up, but besides that was plain.
"Will do", Lacey smiled and waved as I headed out the door. I liked to be early to class, it ensured I got my pick of seats. Student's already filled the halls as I made my way to the Charms classroom, my favorite class. I couldn't help but let the corners of my mouth turn up into a smile as I neared it. School was really where I thrived, and during the summers I yearned for the halls of Hogwarts.
"Katie!", a booming voice called out over the noise in the hallway. "Oi! Bell!", another almost identical one yelled. I rolled my eyes. Seriously, did they really have to yell? Suddenly, I felt my arms being grabbed. My heart nearly exploded out of my chest and I sputtered. My brain was in hyperdrive trying to understand what was going on.
"Oh!", a voice let out, "You're not Katie". I blinked, trying to collect myself as I looked up at the two redheads, each with an arm linked to mine. "No", I breathed, "And I would appreciate it if you unhanded me", I finished lamely. The other twin let out a laugh, holding his hands up in surrender. "My sincerest apologies...?". I tried to collect myself.
"Foster. Sawyer Foster", I said, flattening my skirt. We were still walking, the twins with a bounce in their step. "All girls with black hair look the same from the back", one twin said with a wink. I narrowed my eyes, "Well, look a little closer next time". I stopped, having reached the Charms classroom. One twin laughed and kept walking, while the other paused for a moment, looking at me. A slight smile began to form on his lips and he raised an eyebrow, "Will do".

Charms class went by fairly fast, Hazel inching her way in 15 minutes late, noticed but ignored by Professor Flitwick. Afterwards we headed to Potions, then to lunch. I told Roger and Hazel about my run in with the Weasley twins, Fred and George, Roger informed me. They thought it was absolutely hilarious. I found it less amusing. "I don't even think I've been that close to you guys", I laughed. "It's not our fault you have physical touch issues", said Hazel. I grabbed a book off the table and hit her with it. Roger clutched his sides in laughter. Hazel gasped for air, laughter taking her over too, "Alright, alright. I deserved that". I couldn't help but laugh too, and as we sat there the warm feeling in my chest grew. It was nice to know I belonged.
