"Wh-what?" Shuichi was shaken awake. "Come on, we landed. We gotta get up!" Rantaro said after shaking his arm. Shuichi nodded and got up, grabbing his bags and following Rantaro out of the plane.
When they stepped out of the plane, a cold air shot Shuichi in the face. "W-woah! It's cold!" He exclaimed. "Haha, yeah...you're gonna need a jacket when we go outside." Rantaro said and Shuichi nodded without hesitation. After getting their bags and whatnot, they made it out.
Shuichi had a blue jacket on (that he put on immediately due to the fact he was freezing cold) and a red scarf with black earmuffs Rantaro gave him. Rantaro was wearing a hat with several designs and had a white jacket. They stepped outside and the cold wind hit their faces. Shuichi had to squint his eyes, but when he opened them again, it was like a winter wonderland.
"Wh-where are we?" Shuichi asked, admiring the snow falling from the sky delicately. "Canada," Rantaro replied. (A/N: I know he doesn't cannonly go here; I just have literally no idea what it's like where he did go so uhm just pretend he said Canada, okay? bear with me)
"It's like heaven here!" Shuichi smiled brightly and watched the snow fall. "It was always heaven every time I came." Rantaro sighed. "It's nice to be back."
"Oh, jeez, I'd send Tsumugi a picture but my hands can barely move!" Shuichi laughed. "So where to first?" Shuichi asked. Rantaro thought for a minute. "oh, I got it!"
-time skip-
After they finally found a place to stay, Rantaro brought Shuichi somewhere he named 'a surprise.'
When they got there, Shuichi was more confused then flattered. "The...park?" He asked. "No, it's a hotel. Yes, the park! It's the best park here, though. Come on, I'll show you why." Rantaro dragged him through the park and they admired the snow resting on the trees on the ways
"Here!" Rantaro stopped at a tree that could have been easily the tallest tree in the park. Just by where it was sprouting out of the ground, there was a metal plate and Rantaro pointed down a it and Shuichi looked down at read it.
"...this tree was planted in memory of Amano Amami..?! Wasn't that your sister?" Shuichi said in shock. "Yeah, she was named after my great grandma; this tree was planted in memory of my grandma because she was a traveller all around the world. She was famous, but she didn't care about fame. She just wanted her son to live a good life, but when he wanted to keep the famous in his name, she practically gave up. She tried to fight him, telling him it was wrong but she failed, quite literally. Her son killed her. People grew this tree in memory of her and he was executed (A/N: lmao). Her daughter, my grandma, wanted nothing to do with either fame or no fame, she just wanted to live life. But she let people plant the tree anyways. My grandma wasn't fond with the fame stuff but her son wanted to travel; for both fame and fun. He ended up just doing it for fun. When my mom gave birth to me, he was overjoyed; wanted to keep the Amami travelling line going. You haven't reconized my name because my family was only famous when my great grandma was around. When I lost all my sisters, my dad was more mad at me for losing our key to 'fame,' he wasn't even worried about Ohara or Amano. He named his first girl after the most famous person in our family in case she might become famous, but it didn't work."
(A/N: laughs in really bad hc)
"Woah..." Shuichi smiling in awe at the story. "You're great at storytelling, y'know?" He smirked and Rantaro sighed. "Haha...no, that's Kamei's job. One of my sisters. Possibly the greatest writer to ever live." He sighed at the though. "Or...greatest writer who lived..." He looked down. Shuichi wanted nothing more but to comfort him, tell him it would be okay, but he didn't even know where they were, let alone that it would be okay.
"I still love hearing your family history..." He assured the green haired boy. Rantaro smiled. "Good; you'll be hearing a lot of it on this trip,"
They walked through the park, admiring every little thing. At one point, Rantaro had to stop Shuichi because there was snow on Shuichi's eyelashes. He tried brushing them off but Shuichi shook his head to get his hand off his head. But it didn't change the fact he still had snowflakes on his eyelashes that Rantaro admired freely at anytime.
"Tell me about this Kamei," Shuichi said. Rantaro smiled and shrugged. "Okay, then. You seem to like these stories, huh?" He smirked and the blue haired boy nodded. "They're interesting!"
"Kamei was the second oldest girl, and she was major introvert. Like crazy. She wouldn't come out of her room to eat dinner with all of us at the table unless there was only three of us there. She respectfully ate in her room and wrote her stories. She never let any of us see what she was writing so I have no idea where her imagination went since she barely talked to me in general. One thing I know, she was scared of boats and going on water, so from the day she claimed that, my dad figured she was useless. She wasn't close to any of her siblings; including me, so I don't have a lot more to tell about her..."
"Jeez, from what I'm hearing, your dad is a bi- I-I mean-" "No, don't worry, he was. I wish I could just slap him and make sure that he doesn't get in the way of anyone else's life."
"Oh, one more thing about Kamei. When she was about thirteen, she came out to my parents and everyone else as lesbian, sepratly since she didn't want to say it in front of a crowd, and my parents got so mad and almost dis-owned her...Amano confessed to us that she'd gladly beat up our parents for doing that, but they didn't. But...my parents were homophobic, and that's when I decided they were true bitches."
"Bitches." Shuichi said firmly. "Wow, it feels good to get this out to someone. Even if you aren't totally familiar with it, it feels better when I say it out loud." Rantaro said with a breath of relief. "When you told me about Kamei...it reminded me of myself when I was that age, to be honest. I never came out of my room; only to eat or use the bathroom. I was busy making up murder cases for no one to solve...I almost never thought of the outside world. And not like my parents cared anyways." Shuichi sighed. "Gonna be honest, my story's pretty boring."
"No, it's not. No story is boring to me." Rantaro said and Shuichi shrugged. "So...uh...should we head back?" Shuichi asked. "If you want to, sure," Rantaro replied and they turned around to find their way home.
-another time skip-
"...wait, so Byakuya's not mean?"
"Nope! Well...he was never mean around me." Rantaro finished explaining how he and Byakuya were best friends as they reached their new house. They opened the door and walked up to their rooms to unpack.
After unpacking, Shuichi lay down on the bed in the room. Then he realized something.
"Uhh...Rantaro?" He said nervously. "Yeah?"
"There's...there's only one bed." Shuichi said nervously.
"That's fine!" Rantaro smiled and Shuichi's face exploded with red. "O-oh...okay..." He looked away. "Something wrong with that?" He tilted his head and Shuichi quickly shook his head. "N-no..I guess I'm not used to sleeping with someone else in my bed since I'm an only child and had no friends to have sleepovers and stuff...I've gotten used to it." Shuichi quickly made up an excuse. It was a good one; enough to convince Rantaro. But it wasn't that at all. "Well, consider this your first sleepover even though it isn't at either of our houses." Rantaro said proudly.
Shuichi smiled softly and nodded. "O-okay.." He said and looked out the window. "It's dark already? It's only six!"
"Oh, it gets dark here early in the winter. Want to order in food?" The green headed boy asked. Shuichi nodded and immediately said "Ramen," though he didn't know Rantaro was thinking the exact same thing and spoke his mind the same time as Shuichi.
They both paused and burst out laughing, like they do everytime they speak at the same time instead of saying 'jinx.'
And as always,
Shuichi admired the other boys' laugh.
"I guess we'll order ramen," Rantaro said between giggles and taking breaths. Shuichi held his stomach from laughing so hard and nodded. Rantaro got up and grabbed his phone.
"And tomorrow, our real trip begins!"
