"Come in," Tristan said.
Nina exhaled and gripped the briefcase tighter in her hands. Nina twisted the doorknob and entered the office. She saw Tristan staring at her which caused her heart to race. Nina glanced away to see another black man sitting across from Tristan.
The other man smiled at her and gave her a wink. Nina smiled back at him. When she glanced back at Tristan, she saw he was glaring at the man. The man shrugged and smirked at Tristan.
Nina walked up to both of them, but her eyes still focused on Tristan. Tristan reached his hand out to her. Nina handed it over to him but gripped the briefcase harder when he tried to snatch it away.
"I think a thank you is in order," she said, glaring at him.
Tristan quirked his eyebrow up. He stared at her for the longest time but Nina didn't look away from him.
"Thank you," he finally said.
Nina released her grip on the bag.
"You must be Nina. I'm Max," he said.
Nina turned her attention back to the other man who had a playful glint to his eyes. He had his arm stretched out so that she could shake his hand. Nina walked over to him and took his hand.
"I've heard so much about you," he said, still smiling.
"Really?" Nina asked, glancing at Tristan.
Tristan coughed.
"I hope it was only good things said."
Max smirked. "Oh, you don't know the half of it."
"Max, don't you have to get back to work," he said, glaring at him.
"Nope."
"Get out."
Max stood up and laughed.
"I guess that's my cue to leave," he said, smiling.
Max turned his attention to Nina.
"It was nice meeting you. Hopefully, we can talk soon."
"I hope so too," she said, smiling.
Max leaned in closer.
"He really likes you. Watch when I give you a hug. Is that okay?"
Nina nodded. "Sure."
Max wrapped her up in a hug.
Max whispered in her ear, "Three, two, one..."
"Max, get back to work."
Tristan nearly shouted as he walked towards them. Max was still hugging her and she heard him chuckle against her ear. Nina found herself laughing too.
Max let her go and said, "Told you."
Nina looked at Tristan and his eyes were narrowed in on her.
"I'm leaving. You two have fun," he said, winking at Nina before shutting the door.
Tristan sighed. "Sorry, about him. He can be a bit much."
Nina laughed. "I like him."
Tristan walked towards her. He stood in front of her and lowered his head so that he was staring directly at her.
Nina held her breath when she saw his eyes land on her mouth.
"Do you like him more than me?" he asked, placing his hand on the back of her neck.
