A New Home

I woke up to a gentle kiss on my cheek and gave Gene a smile. "Hello," I murmured.

Smiling, he picked up my hand, giving it a kiss. "We've landed. It's almost time for you to see your new home," he said, helping me to my feet.

I stretched, letting out a gasp of pain as the babies kicked me sharply. "Oh, settle down," I said crossly, rubbing my stomach almost aggressively.

"Just a few more weeks, love," Gene said, putting a hand on my belly. I smiled, leaning against him. "Just a few more weeks," I murmured in agreement.

After saying goodbye to Ace, Paul, and Peter, Gene helped me down the stairs of the plane. We walked to his car, which was a very nice Cadillac, and he put our suitcases in the trunk. I clambered into the passenger seat, struggling to fasten the seatbelt over my baby bump.

"It's only an hour drive to my home, but of course if you need to stop or you need anything before we're home just let me know," he said, giving my hand a squeeze.

I nodded, settling back into the seat and closing my eyes. "Thanks dear. I think I'm going to sleep though. I'm very tired," I said with a yawn.

Gene reached over, rubbing me on the shoulder before picking up my hand and giving it a kiss before letting it go. "Sounds like a plan. Sleep well, I'll wake you up when we get there."

I shifted a bit, trying to get comfortable in the seat. "Mm I'm sure I'd be able to sleep easier if your arms were around me," I teased.

He let out a chuckle, patting me on the knee. "Once we're home if you want to take a nap I'll very happily take one with you. But for now, get some rest! You need to sleep," he said soothingly.

"I'll do my best," I said with a yawn, wrapping my arms around my belly, supporting the weight of our babies before dropping off to sleep once again.

And once again, Gene woke me up with a gentle kiss on the cheek about an hour or so later. "Hello love. Did you sleep well?" he asked. I nodded, stretching with a yawn, grateful to see that the babies seemed to be sleeping as well.

"I did. Have we made it home?" I asked.

A smile spread across Gene's face and he stepped out of the car, opening the passenger door and extending a hand. I took it, allowing him to help me out of the car. I felt my eyes widen as I stared up at his house. Well, it was our house now, I suppose! It was also huge, probably four times the size of my small apartment.

"Shall we go inside?" he asked. "I already brought the luggage in."

I nodded wordlessly, to stunned to even speak, and he led me inside with a laugh. "It's not that big, don't worry. Only five bedrooms or so. You should see Paul's house, his is massive. But come on! I-I went ahead and ordered some cribs and stuff, I got them delivered and set up yesterday," he said, suddenly stumbling over his words as his face went pink and he tugged me up the stairs.

"So our bedroom is right here, I have the two cribs in there. But I figured once they're older they can stay in this room," he said, pushing open the door to the room next to ours before turning and giving me a worried look. "Does that work, do you think?"

I smiled, heart all aflutter as I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Oh Gene, you're the sweetest! It's so thoughtful of you to get all of this arranged already!"

He gave me a relieved smile. "I was thinking maybe we could look online for baby clothes? Then I can just go to the store and pick them up. I want you to be able to pick out the clothes of course but I don't want you to have to stay on your feet for too long."

I rested my forehead against his, kissing him. "Ohh love you're so thoughtful! I love you Gene, I love you so so much." He smiled, kissing me back, showering me in a rain of kisses that ran down my neck. "Mm I love you more. Now come on, we should get you unpacked in your new house. Once things are more settled, like once the babies are here, we'll get the rest of your stuff from your old home," he said.

Smiling, I walked into our bedroom, hand in hand with him. "That sounds like a wonderful idea. Now come on, I'm still tired, let's see how well we both fit in our bed," I teased.

He slipped his free arm around my waist. "Your wish is my command, my dear," he purred, and I smiled.
