Things Are Busy

I let out a yawn, rolling over, but a pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist as Gene pulled me back against him.

"Mm nuh-uh love, you're not allowed to get up yet," he murmured, burying his face in the back of my neck as he spooned me from behind.

Smiling, I shifted so I was facing him now, burying my face in his chest. "I wasn't trying to. I was looking for you in bed," I teased.

He put a finger to my lips. "Sh. No talking yet. We've only got a few more minutes before-"

He wasn't even able to finish his sentence before the door opened. Jackson and Evie ran into the room. They scrambled up onto the bed, Evie climbing on top of Gene while Jack squirmed between me and my husband, pushing us apart.

With a groan, Gene rolled onto his back, letting Evie sit on his chest. "Good morning sweetpea! How are you?" he asked, kissing our daughter on the forehead while I scooped Jackson up into my arms.

"Daddy I hungry!" she whined, and Jackson nodded, pouting.

Gene nodded, sitting up and scooping her up in his arms. "Well, let's go take care of that!" he said, before holding out another arm, allowing Jackson to clamber up into his arms.

I smiled, blowing Gene a kiss as he carried our kids out of our room, heading down to the kitchen. With a yawn, I stretched, running a hand through my hair, feeling the diamonds on my wedding ring snag my hair. It had been almost two years since Gene and I had gotten married, and over three years since we had become parents. I had loved every minute of it!

I stepped out of bed, following the rest of my family downstairs. Gene had gotten our kids buckled into their high chairs and was starting to toast some Eggo waffles for them. "So what do you two cuties want to drink?" I asked, giving each of my kids a kiss on the forehead, smoothing Evie's curly black hair out of her eyes.

"Milk!" Jackson cried. "Juice!" Evie said.

Even though Evie had Gene's hair, she had my eyes, which was the opposite of Jackson, who had my hair and Gene's eyes. Our two children were a perfect blend of Gene and I. I walked over to my husband, wrapping my arms around him and standing up on my toes to kiss him.

"Well, it's 7:30. They let us sleep in for once," I teased.

He smiled, kissing me back. "Thank goodness for that. We'll have to try and go to bed early tonight, so I'm able to catch up on some sleep," he said, pulling the waffles out of the toaster, sliding one plate to me.

"Butter those, dear?" he asked, kissing me again, and I nodded, returning the kiss. "Happily!"

Between the two of us, we were able to get their breakfast done quickly, handing them their plates and sippy cups. Evie and Jackson started to eat while I leaned against Gene, stifling a yawn. "Sometimes I wish we only had to deal with one child," I murmured in his ear.

He smiled, wrapping his arms around me, holding me against him. "Sh don't say that, you know that's not true. You love our kids!"

I kissed him on the cheek. "I do! I love them to pieces, they're the light of my life and I'm happier with them than I've ever been. But you can't deny that things would be easier if we only had to take care of one kid at a time. I know my pregnancy would've been a damn sight easier."

Gene rested his chin on my shoulder, kissing me, lips moving from my mouth down my neck as he showered my collarbone in kisses. "Mm perhaps. But we have twins and me personally I'm very glad we do."

"I am too! I love our children dearly, they're absolutely perfect, and you're an absolutely perfect father and husband. I love you," I said.

He gave me a squeeze, straightening up. "And you, my dear, are the most perfect woman in the world. I couldn't ask for a better wife or mother to my children. Speaking of, they were asking to go to the park today. That sound like fun to you?" he asked.

"Sounds perfect!" I said, before turning to our children. "So how does the park sound?" "Yay!" "I wanna go!"

An hour or so later, the four of us had reached the park. Gene took Evie to the playground while Jackson dragged me over to the swings. "Push, Mama!" he said.

I lifted him into the swing, pushing him. "Whee! Higher!" he squealed, kicking his legs in the air. I pushed him higher, watching as Gene waited at the bottom of the slide for Evie to slide down it. After a few hours, the twins had tired themselves out, especially since it was approaching naptime.

"Alright sweetpeas, let's get you home," Gene said, scooping them up in his strong arms and carrying them to the car.

I cuddled up with Gene after we had put the twins down for their nap, giving him a kiss on the cheek as his arms went around me.

"Mm Y/N our conversation this morning had me thinking," he murmured. "Oh? Thinking about what?" I asked.

He let out a rumbly sigh, giving me a squeeze. "I know the twins are a bit of a handful, and especially when they were both younger, but what...what would you think about having another baby?" he asked shyly, face going pink.

My heart leapt and I smiled, squeezing him back, resting my head on his chest. "I say whatever happens, happens, my love. I say we just have our fun and if we wind up with another baby then we're lucky enough to have three kids," I said. "But don't forget, you also have the band to deal with. You're leaving soon for another tour."

He nodded, kissing me. "And I'm bringing my wife and children with me," he purred, kissing me. I melted into his embrace, closing my eyes. "That's true. But we'll see! Maybe we'll end up with three kids."

"Or maybe more?" he asked, and I smiled. "Or maybe more."
