Is Lavanya over the fact yet that DBO had to be taken off air to join Ishqbaaz?
Of course not. It's me, Lavanya, when do I get over certain things? Even though that major action happened like 3 nearly 4 years ago, I refuse to get over the fact that it happened!
Okay so Ishqbaaz (2016 - 2019) is about the Oberoi brothers: Shivaay, Omkara and Rudra, friendship and romances. It's also about their dysfunctional family because Shakti is overseen, Pinky is Pinky, Jhanvi is an alcoholic due to her husband Tej cheating on her with the secretary Svetlana.
I saw these promos in 2016 and I was like at first: no, not watching it, stop showing these promos.
Then I didn't watch the first few episodes. I think I started watching when there was something wrong with the electricity, Rudy was being dramatic and Anika had to shut the electricity before Rudy got a shock. It was funny so I watched it.
Clearly if a show is funny that does NOT mean that it will remain funny forever, expect Kya Haal Mr Panchaal but this is an Ishqbaaz review. I stopped watching Ishqbaaz too much as it got dramatic and soon I watched DBO....haaye Omkara. I loved Om-Gauri's pairing a lot and I did know what was going on with Ishqbaaz as of the lovely app called Instagram.
Now as much as I love Rikara, there were also some salty things about DBO. When DBO and IB first merged for the maha week, I was like: let's watch it.
Two episodes later, the makers forget about Rikara and Rudy's story, focusing on Shivika and Pinky's saas bahu drama. I got nothing against Shivika....it would have been nice if the MAKERS DID AS THEY PROMISED!
So let's see the sweet and salty of both shows.....
DBO: The Sweet
Rikara obviously
The fact that Om protected Gauri from Buamaa
He didn't let her leave
Buamaa....sorry I loved her before she became negative
The beautiful fact that Jhanvi and Gauri's relationship was not a typical saas-bahu relationship.....I am just pointing it out!
The CPR scene....I am never getting over that scene nor will I get over the Oh Girl You're Mine scene.
DBO: The Salty
The fact it had to end obviously
I didn't like how during some Rikara romantic scenes, they had to show Bhavya and Rudy's romance.....like hello GUL KHAN STOP RUINING THE MOMENT FOR US FANS!
I feel like the Svetlana track was dragged a bit too much, like the majority of the show was basically about Svetlana and I feel like there should have been more focus on Rikara and not too much on Svetlana.
Also GUL I WOULD LIKE SOME CLARIFICATION ON THE TWO SVETLANAS. IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE IN IB LATER BEFORE THE VANVAS TRACK!
....
I feel that there was so much more to the show but obviously Gul simply didn't want to waste time on two projects. Arre baba, Ekta spends a lot of time with her multiple serials, at least put in some effort.
Now let's do the overall sweet and salty of IB
IB: The Sweet
The couple pairings were nice.
Though I prefer Rumya.
Rudy baba's logic was beautiful, just beautiful.
I loved the brothers' bonding.
The 'shut up Rudra' is legendary.
Gauri and Anika's senses of humour.
When Aniri found out they were sisters.
Pinky's Oh My Mata was amazing.
The fashion was really nice.
The PDA track.
Sahil crushing on Soumya was A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E!
IB: The Salty
Did Gul forget about Mahi or something? Just asking.
The whole Navya track was POINTLESS!
I think I speak for at least 75% when I say that WAS THERE A POINT IN THE STUPID REDUX TRACK.
Like did Gul forget that the redux was supposed to be temporary, it was made up, a fantasy of the couples, IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO LAST FOREVER!
Personally I feel that the Soumya being a Kapoor and Rumya's 'fake' marriage made me question logic. First Somu was shown as Dadi's friend's granddaughter, she told Shivay that she had a dead brother and she was also bloody drunk when she married Rudra which means people.....Ruvya's marriage is technically ILLEGAL!
Why didn't Rikara get a remarriage? Why was it never mentioned? I want an explanation please. I beg. GUL WHY?!
Why did Shivika marry one too many times? Like it's almost after every argument, they marry. Arre for the married readers reading, do you guys remarry your partner after every major argument? I want to know because if I was married, I wouldn't.
I feel that all couples deserved equal space because Rikara and Ruvya were eventually sidelined.
Now this also makes me question a beautiful thing called logic....what was the point of the illegitimate track?
Om.....I love Om but I noticed how he never stood up for his wife yet he stood up for everyone else. All he did in the sharad scene was hug Gauri.
Was Priyanka forgotten before the redux? Just asking.
Before the redux, they never showed Om and Tej bonding again nor did Gauri get to know Om's drug past or his Riddhima-Ishana past.
Finally....WHY WAS ANIKA AND GAURI NOT SHOWN HAVING A JOB AFTER MARRIAGE? Like Bhavya wasn't shown at work a lot but she did overall have a job. Anika and Gauri, after being the Oberoi bahus, didn't work at all. I wanted to see maybe Anika opening up a event company and like Shivay keeps offering her too much advise on owning a company which pisses her off and also maybe Gauri becoming like an actress or dancer and eventually Om becomes insecure with her co-star or co-dancer....just saying! OMG someone actually mind writing a ff on that? I will love you forever and ever.
...
Overall I feel like some logic didn't exist in Ishqbaaz-DBO and that DBO should have continued, we should have had Rumya and maybe Gul has learnt from Ishqbaaz NOT TO HAVE A SHOW WITH THREE OR MORE COUPLES IF YOU CAN'T GIVE THEM JUSTICE!
Also just something, since the beginning of time, EVERYONE KNEW THAT ANIKA AND GAURI WERE SISTERS! Yet Gul would sometimes pick up the sisters' track then drop it, pick it up, drop it etc....arre since the first episode of DBO, I knew Gauri was Anika's sister. Even Sherlock Holmes could figure that mystery out quickly without any investigation. Also in the redux, they could delve a little deeper in Ruvya and Rikara's stories. Also I feel that the whole new generation track was pointless.
So I would rate Ishqbaaz 5/10.
Inline this comment if you agree that there was literally no point in the redux story.
