"Oh no, what do we do now?" I asked concerned and terrified.
"Can you both climb a mountain?" Desire asked looking from me to Bridget.
"Yes," I replied confidently.
"No," Bridget said with a weird expression.
"Well too bad because that's what we are going to do in other to outrun them." Desire said.
"No way I am climbing a mountain!! I will fall to my death." Bridget said stubbornly.
"When I find that fleshling I will cut its ears and remove all its teeth as a treasure before giving it to the lord!!!" A Mashgore cackling loudly.
"On second thought I will climb the mountain." She said and I let out a chuckle, we all headed towards the mountain stealthily and we began to climb it.
"I am going to fall!!" Bridget screamed.
"No you will not, I'll carry you on my back," I told her as I waited for her to reach where I was.
"Thank you." She said. She moved slowly to where I was and climbed my back as soon as she said that I froze but regained composure afterward, she has never thanked me for anything before never, and sand he surprised me when she said that.
We climbed for hours before we eventually reached the top of the mountain, then I realized something, I placed Bridget on the ground and I told her and Desire what I realized.
"We are stuck in a novel!!", I told them, "wait let me finish, we are supposed to be stuck in the novel we were struggling for which was 'A Quest For Christmas' but for some reason, we are stuck in another fantasy novel," I said hoping Bridget understood me.
"So which novel are we stuck inside?" Bridget asked as Desire stayed quiet listening closely.
"We are stuck in the novel titled 'The tale of Divine creatures' and the novel is in my room, I think in our cause of struggling the portal must have sent us to another fantasy word instead of the novel we were struggling for," I said slowly.
"Okay so...?" Bridget said waiting for me to continue.
"I have a theory, if we can get into the actual story we are supposed to be stuck into we can get out easily because if that novel enabled us to get into a fantasy world, it can also get us out," I said with furrowed brows,
"I think you have a point." Desire said backing me up.
"So how do we get into the novel we are supposed to be in?" Bridget asked. I'm surprised she didn't argue it or say I'm going insane, I guess Desire was right.
"I think the right question is where is the portal that will take the both of you there? Am I right Harper?" Desire asked looking at me.
"Yes, right you are," I said "According to my knowledge we are on the mountain of really, this mountain is right at the ending of the novel so we need to stay on alert because a portal can appear at any time and we have approximately fifteen minutes before the portal will close," I said I guess reading that novel more than five times paid off.
"Okay, that's good to know, I can't wait to get back home." Bridget moaned.
"I'll set the tent and make us something to eat." Desire said as she walked away.
I went inside the tent to lay down I was exhausted, Bridget weighed a lot I think my back might be broken, I stretched and I heard a crack from my back, ow!! I moaned, I laid down for a couple of minutes deciding to go outside.
I went outside the tent and saw Bridget, she sat outside the tent, she looked so lost in thought, I took a seat next to her."We will be back home soon, I promise," I said encouragingly.
"I always heard Santa will come on Christmas day and whawhawhatever present you want under the Christmas tree, then on our fifth year birthday which was on Christmas day, a day before then I wished for a dollhouse and you know I was always so sweet and nice, but I never got my Christmas gift." She said in a low sad voice.
"So?" I asked nonchalantly.
"Also on our Sixth year birthday I wished for the same thing, you got what you wished for but I didn't, I asked my friends and they said maybe its because Santa likes you but not me so since then I have hated Christmas and since our birthday is always on Christmas—" She trailed off.
"You always hated it, but why were you always mean to me, you even turned our parents against me," I asked hurt and curious.
"That's not true, when you went for summer camp and I was ill, the doctor told me I have a weak heart, so if I get upset and sad it can affect my heart badly and I will fall ill, even worst I may die, that's why our parents always do whatever I want but I usually take advantage of that, I am sorry, can you ever forgive me." She asked staring deep into my eyes.
"I didn't know that, why didn't you tell me?" I asked looking down at the ground.
"Mom and Dad didn't tell you anything because I asked them not to." She confessed.
"It's alright, I wish I knew, no hurt feelings," I told her with a smile, if I had known all these wouldn't have happened.
"I am done cooking, here is yours." Desire said as she came and handed us two bowls of... I have no idea what she has given us to eat.
"What is this?" I asked as I sniffed it, it does not have a bad smell just a weird smell.
"This is macrocellsoup, I made it with macrocell and stew ingredients, I also chopped in some carrots." She said with a smile.
"Don't you mean stew?" Bridget asked scrunching her nose.
"No! Just have a taste of it." We did as she said and it tasted good.
"This is good," Bridget said "I said it's good, oh no, this place is already rubbing off on me." She said as she took another spoon full.
"Whatever! You like it, that's all that matters, we will leave first thing in the morning before dawn, I am hoping the portal will appear before then." Desire said and fetched herself some to eat.
"What do we do once we are in the novel titled The Quest For Christmas?" Bridget asked.
"We will look for Santa, once we find him then we will automatically be transported out of the novel because like the title says, the Quest for Christmas." I simply said.
"But how do we find Santa?" Bridget asked.
"That's the Quest." I said in a 'duh' tone.
"Oh." She said in realization.
"Yeah but don't worry, I have read the novel so it should not be so hard for us," I said enjoying my stew, no sorry stew.
"Okay, I'll go sleep now," Bridget said as the finished her stew so fast.
"Okay, good night," I said with a small smile.
"Hey," I said to Desire as I went to the seat next to her.
"Looks like we are almost at the end of the journey," I said with a smile.
"I thought we were going along with my plan." She said with a frown.
"Sorry about that, since we are almost out of this fantasy world I'd like to give you your life source." I handed her an o her.
"Sorry for threatening you I had to," I told her.
"It's okay." She said and took it from me.
"No hurt feelings?" I asked.
"No hurt feelings." She said and smiled at me.
"Go sleep I'll keep a lookout," I told her.
"Thanks." She said and went to the tent.
