Carter started to panic.

'I-I MEAN-' he frantically waved his arms around, 'YOU DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER OR SOMETHING- I JUST HAD TO GET THAT OUT MY CHEST, I-I, YOU KNOW, SINCE- WELL- YOU-I- WE-'

'You like me? You're in love with...me?'

Her voice were tinted with such awe that Carter's mind immediately went back to zero. He stared at her shining eyes and her pair of furrowed brows.

'How?'

Carter dropped his hands to his side.

'What do you mean, "how"?' he was getting infuriated. 'Have you never fall for someone before? You met someone, be friends with them, spend some bit of time together, then whee your heart fluttered and you realised you're dreadfully in love with them-'

'No, I know how it feels.' Her confused expression contradicted her words. 'Just, how do you fall for...me?'

Pansy really could be one shit ton of a blockhead sometimes.

Carter grimaced irritably, scratched the back of his neck while saying,

'because you're-' scratch '- beautiful, charming-' scratch '-fun, endearing, beautiful and-' scratch '-and-'

'Okay, okay, that's enough,' she hastily said, cutting him off. Her face flushed bright red. Well, her face was always red since she's apparently ill but it was redder than usual.

'What, you're not keen of-' scratch '-affection?'

'I'm not keen of your neck falling off to you scratching it like that.'

'Oh.' He stopped. His neck was deep red (and so was his face).

'Um,' Pansy said, 'thank you...I guess. I...never thought anyone would...you know, like me that way.'

Carter blinked. 'Why do you think so?'

'Well, I'm not pr-'

'Just so you know, Parkinson, you're the most beautiful girl I've ever met.

Pansy stared off into space, her face flushing darker.

'You're making me...god. I...'

'It's alright,' began Carter sheepishly, looking at his right, 'if you don't have an answer.'

'I-I do.'

A beat.

'You do?' Carter turned his head, looking at Pansy intently. Pansy looked at him, too, and he was taken aback at the expression of her face.

She was smirking.

'Just wait till my cure's all wrapped and done-' she grinned, then leaned in with her nose scrunching up cutely.

'Then I'll tell you.'

Carter malfunctioned for a while.

'You're driving me insane, Pansy Parkinson.'

'I'm glad.' She leaned back and stretched.

'Now leave. I'm sleepy.'

Carter stared at her yawning.

'Wha?'

He snapped back to reality.

'YEAH SURE- I'LL LEAVE NOW, GO TO SLEEP I'LL TURN OFF THE LIGHTS AND UH-'

'You're so loud.'

Astoria woke up to a hand on her forehead.
