The sun shines through Katie's bedroom window, hitting y/n with the sunray causing her to wake up. She shielded her eyes with her hands, slowly sitting up as she looked around the room. No doubt Katie had carried her into the room as the last thing she remembers was crying in Katie's arms at the green-eyed girl's couch.
As her senses finally start to kick in, she can smell the sweet aroma of Katie's cooking. No doubt she's making pancakes, she thought.
Walking out of her friend's bedroom, the young architect headed towards the kitchen.
"Had a good night's sleep?" Katie asked.
"I did. Although you could've just woken me up so I could walk to your room. I'm very aware that I'm heavy." Y/n pouted.
Katie couldn't help but smile at her best friend's cuteness. Y/n can sometimes underestimate her strength just because of how her body is built.
"Oh honey, I'm stronger than I look. Besides, I don't have the heart to wake you up after crying yourself out last night. You deserve to rest... most importantly, you didn't deserve that kind of treatment from your so-called fiancé." The woman stated.
Once again, everything dawned on her... her fiancé couldn't support her dreams. A gloomy expression made its way to the younger girl's face as she sat on the kitchen isle.
"I'm so sorry to disappoint you y/n. I didn't mean to bring him up." Katie apologized after seeing the look on the girl's face.
"It's fine, K. I just couldn't believe I'd be marrying someone who couldn't support my dreams." She started.
"What if I made the wrong decision? I mean... I thought he was different. Why now? Why couldn't he just show his true colors before he proposed?" Y/n continued visibly starting to stress out.
Putting the last pancake on the plate, Katie quickly rushed to her friend's side as she could sense an incoming panic attack.
"Okay, y/n, please breathe... everything will be okay," Katie said, trying to soothe y/n, not noticing how close she stood next to her.
"I'll be here for you no matter what, you know that. No matter what your decision is, I'll always support you no matter what. And as for the Lucas situation... forget about him for a while and just focus on yourself, focus on what you want and what you dream about. You don't answer to anyone, only to yourself. Always remember that. You'll eventually know what's the right thing to do. Just clear your head, and everything will fall in place soon." She continued cupping y/n's face.
An eternity seems to pass as they continue to look into each other's eyes, not minding how close their bodies have become. Both could feel their heart beat faster as seconds passed. None of them dares to move away. Katie longed for her, Y/n felt the same... she just hasn't realized it yet... until now.
Their closeness, their bond, their unknowing love lead them to this moment. But alas, everything must come to an end.
Both of them were brought back to reality when they heard a knock on the door. Katie cleared her throat as she backed away from her best friend, walking towards the source of the sound that ruined their perfect moment. Y/n, on the other hand, was glued to her seat, still processing what just happened. She has never felt this way before... not for a long time at least, and with Katie more importantly. She knew she had feelings for her best friend back when they were still in college, but why are they resurfacing now? She questioned herself. The young girl reminded herself that she would be married soon and that she shouldn't feel things for other people except for Lucas... especially not for her best friend.
----------
Katie opened the door only to reveal her best friend's jerk of a fiancé.
"Is she here?" Lucas asked calmly, not caring for Katie's presence.
"Hello to you too, Lucas." Katie greeted him sarcastically.
"Is she here or not?" He asked again, now getting a bit impatient.
"Yes, she's here. We're just about to eat breakfast. I'll get her for you." Katie added, walking back to the kitchen, leaving Lucas at the door.
She returned to the kitchen at the sight of her best friend staring at the pancakes she cooked, especially for her. Clearing her throat to make herself know, she continues to stare at y/n.
"Lucas is here." Katie said quietly, still not over the moment they had a few minutes ago and how close she stood in front of her best friend that she could almost kiss her at that moment.
The young girl's head quickly snapped up at the mention of her fiancé's name.
Nodding, she stood up from her seat, letting her best friend lead her to where Lucas was. To their surprise, Lucas was already inside the house, comfortably sitting on the couch as if she had been invited by the house owner to go inside.
A real jerk moves from a man who only thinks about his image, Katie thought.
"I'll leave you two alone," the older girl said, walking back to the kitchen.
----------
Y/n stayed silent, still upset about how her night went yesterday.
"I called you a dozen times. Why didn't you answered?" Lucas asked.
The younger girl scoffed at her fiancé's words.
"Really, Lucas? After what you said last night, do you really think I would answer your calls?" Y/n said, raising her voice at the man in front of him.
She was beyond mad. She would think that he was here to apologize, but with how he started the conversation, she has no clue now.
Lucas was aware that he had poured gas into the fire once again, making the flames bigger. He admitted that was a stupid move even for a businessman like him.
"I'm sorry, y/n look... it doesn't matter. I'm here because I wanted to apologize." He paused, asking permission if he could continue on what he has to say.
"I'm sorry I was a jerk, and I shouldn't have said those things that I've said last night. I've had the time to think things through, and I just wanted to know that I support you. It doesn't matter where your work takes you. I still love you, and your happiness is as important as mine. We can have a small wedding before you leave then just have a big one after you come back... what's a few years gonna take for us anyway, it'll be just like you've gone on a business trip... before we know it you're back, and we'll be together again. I love you, and I want us to work this out." Lucas finished his speech.
After listening to what he has to say, y/n couldn't help but get even more confused. She doesn't know what to do... at least her heart doesn't. Her mind tells her that taking up Lucas's offer is better than dealing with a rocky relationship with him. Yes, it will fast-track their wedding. Still, at least she wouldn't have to deal with Lucas being unsupportive. Not giving a chance for her heart to decide, y/n walked closer to Lucas to hug him.
Sighing in relief, they both smiled as their fight was now finally over.
"Go talk to your boss tomorrow. Tell him that you accept your promotion." Lucas tells y/n after their hug.
"Guess we have to plan for a wedding then?" The young architect said, looking up at his smiling fiancé.
"Yes, yes we do," Lucas said, kissing his beautiful fiancé.
Katie heard everything from the kitchen. She couldn't help but feel more heartbroken... her best friend has accepted Lucas' apology and knows they're going to fast-track their wedding before she leaves for Ireland.
Katie couldn't help but let her tears fall when it finally dawned on her that the moment that they had a while back would be the closest thing she'll ever have to be with the love of her life.
As the valiant's love falls, the heart aches for what was lost.
