He walks out of the room, with blood seeping through his sweater. I turn in Gray's arms to face him. "I love you." I whisper to him and I swear his eyes light up with happiness.
"I love you too." He whispers back.
I lean in to kiss him but Jonah comes in with a crowbar. He looks slightly dizzy, probably from the blood lose. I pull away from Gray so I'm now standing on my own. He hands Gray the crowbar and a knife. Then he looks at me. "You need to punch me."
A raise an eyebrow. "What?"
"You need punch me hard enough to knock me out. So they think you guys escaped." His eyes look into mine and they don't move.
I crack my knuckles. I plan to fully enjoy this. I take my stance and then punch him in the side of the head as hard as I can. His body falls next to Melissa's and I look at Gray who's already at the window prying the wood off of them.
I grab the chains from beside the chairs and walk up to him. You never no. These might come in handy. The boards fall to the ground and I slide the window open. "Ladies first." Gray says and I roll my eyes.
"What a gentleman." I say sarcastically and climb through the window.
The sky is beginning to change from the light blue it once was to the midnight black in will soon be. "We need to find a place to stay and take shelter." I say and turn to Gray who's now standing beside me.
He nods his head in agreement. "But where?"
I look at the chains in my hand. "If we find a thick enough branch we can tie ourselves down."
"Good idea." We walk into the forest until I find a good branch. We both climb up it and sit down with our backs against the trunk. He helps me tie us to the tree so we don't fall off and he put his arm around my shoulders. I snuggle into his warm side.
"We can let them do what they're doing Gray. They're killing innocent people." The thought alone makes my blood boil.
"What do you propose we do?" His voice has no trace of mockery in it.
The gears in my mind start to go crazy until I come up with an idea. "We could set the place on fire, with gas."
"How will we get inside the school? How will we escape once we set it on fire?"
Once again the gears in my heads go crazy trying to find the answers to his good questions. "They will probably have guards. We can disguise ourselves in their lab coats and then hide gas under them. As for a way to escape I know they have a back entrance. We can start there and make our to the front doors. We should get another car so we can get away as fast as possible."
His kisses the top of my head. "Good idea. Now you should get some sleep. We have a big day tomorrow." I nod and rest my head against his chest and slowly fall asleep.
I'm awoken by the moans of the flesh eating monsters. I look down to see the zombies trying to climb up the tree but epically failing. I look at Gray who's still asleep and lightly shake him. "Wake up Gray."
His eyes slowly open and he rubs them. He must have heard the moans as well because his looks down and unties us. "Don't worry. I got this." He takes out the knife Jonah gave him and starts to skilfully climb down the tree.
When he gets to the bottom he does moves that would make someone think he's a ninja. When all the zombies are on the ground in a pile of rotten flesh he looks up at me. "What are you waiting for?"
I roll my eyes and climb down. I stand beside him. "Let get going we have a lot of gas to collect." He nods in agreement and we head off in the direction of the town.
