It's finally October. The air's getting colder and I start to shiver every time I go outside. Draco's been a lot more distant lately. I roll out of bed on the morning of the 1st. I put on my glasses and push them up on my nose. I begin the walk down to the great hall. I see Draco across the hall. He doesn't look happy. I bite my lip. His eyes meet mine. He looks away. I sit down next to Ron.

"Hey, Ron." I say, less than happy.

"You okay, mate?" Ron asks.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I sigh.

Ron grabs some chicken. "Okay." He begins to eat.

I play with my food, my fork hitting the ceramic plate. I don't feel much like eating.
After breakfast, I walk slowly down to the dungeon. I feel cold hand on my arm. I whip around. Draco.

"Draco!" I say.

He looks anxious. "Listen, Harry, I'm sorry for being so distant lately." He sighs. "I've just been..." He waves his hand. "Nevermind. I'm just sorry."

I bite my lip. "Draco, it's fine. You can tell me what's wrong, you know."

He sighs again. "I know I can and I know I should, I just..." He puts his head down. "I just don't think I can."

I soften. I put a hand on his shoulder. He shrugs it off.

"Draco..." I start.

"Don't, Harry." He says. He pulls his hood up. "Just, I'll see you later."

That didn't make me feel any better, to be honest. At least he know he's doing it. I walk down to Potions and I sit next to Ron.

"Hey!" He says. "We've got to get started."

I slowly at my beetle eyes to my cauldron. I glance at Draco, who doesn't look any happier either.

After class, I wait until Draco and I are the only one's in the room before walking out with him.

"Draco!" I call as he speeds ahead. "Please!"

He turns around quickly.

"Harry, just..." He grabs my hand. "Come with me."

He pulls me along down the corridor. He drags me out through the entrance and out to the tree by the lake.

"Why did you bring me here?" I ask.

"Just, drop it okay?" He says. "I don't want to talk about my feelings and I don't want to talk about why I've been distant. I'm not that kind of person and I don't think I'll ever be, alright?"

I sigh. "But Draco, those are your feelings."

"NO THEY AREN'T!" He shouts. "That's how I feel, not my feelings, okay? Why don't you get that?"

"Draco, please." I say. "I'm not prying, it's okay, you don't have to talk."

He looks taken aback and starts to calm. "Oh. Oh, okay."

I smile gently at him. "Draco, let's just ignore this, if that's what you want." I say softly.

Draco breathes out lightly. "You mean it?"

"Draco, I'm here for you okay?" I say "Not your feelings, you. Though you can tell me about them if you want."

"I don't want." He says, grinning. "Now, come on, let's go do something fun."

That night, I recieve a letter from Padfoot and Moony.

Dear Harry,

Do you care to tell us who this mystery friend is? We miss you and want to make sure you have good friends. We hope all is going well there and that Ron is doing okay. We were so proud to hear you got onto the Quidditch team at such a young age. Succeeds anything your father ever did.
With much love,
Moony and Padfoot.

I'm not sure I want to tell them about Draco. I mean, he's Sirius's 1st cousin once removed, I think, or something like that, and he doesn't like his family.

Dear Moony and Padfoot,

I don't know if I want to tell you his name. He's...rather shy. I miss you guys too. I hope you are happy as well. Ron is doing great. Thank you for being proud of me! I love you guys too.
Harry.

That should make them stop prying. I don't think Sirius would like Draco much, even if they weren't related. I send the letter with Merlin and get changed into my blue-and-white striped pajamas. I climb into bed. Maybe Draco will talk tomorrow...
