Harrys POV:
I looked around the hall at dinner, trying to spot Hermione and Ron who haven't shown up yet. It was our eighth year we all decided to come back to catch up on the studies we lost because of... the war.
"Looking for the lovebirds, mate?" Dean asked once he spotted me, I nodded "Sorry to disappoint, but they told me to tell you that they decided to-er...you okay?"
He must have seen my irritated expression, even though I tried to hide it. I sighed, "Yea, I'm fine." It's not that I'm not happy that my friends are together and they are happy, I just don't see them much anymore. Lately, it's all about them, and how they are doing together and how in love, they are. I guess I just feel left out and slightly jealous of their happy relationship. I myself decided to break things off with Ginny after we were together for the summer. She's pretty and stuff, but I could tell she liked someone else.
Turns out I was right, she and Luna are happy together.
"You positive?" He asked and I realized he was still watching me.
"Yeah, Dean. Just-"I sighed and smiled up at him, "Just tired. So, where are they?"
"Hermione and Ron are in the library, they decided to eat there," He told me with an unsure smile of his own.
"Thanks, I better get going then. I'll have the house-elves sneak me some food later tonight" I slowly got up and I suddenly felt him giving me a confused look of his own.
"Hey, Harry..." He started, "You know that Seamus and I are always there for you, right?" He mumbled as he raised his eyebrow.
"Yeah, I know. Don't worry though, like I said I'm just tired." I waved him goodbye as I began to walk out of the hall and back towards the common room. While I was walking I began to hear some commotion and I looked over to see Fred and George and they were arguing. It didn't look serious or anything, but it defiantly was something.
Fred and George decided to come back for a year to make up for the year they lost when Umbridge was in charge. I knew they came back because they wanted to be there for Ron, Hermione and me when they saw how nervous we were to walk the halls again. I mean, how could we forget that we almost lost Fred during the war, it was defiantly a close call and I'm glad that we didn't actually lose him. So, when they said their request to finish the year the loss was granted thanks to Professor-or should I say, Headmistress- McGonagall. I was happy.
I decided to give in to my curiosity and walked towards them, trying to not reveal my presence until they noticed me. I began to chuckle when I could hear what they were saying.
"You idiot, Professor Velvet almost saw us!" Fred hissed as George rolled his eyes. I can not tell them apart due to George's missing ear.
"Relax, she didn't besides. We got what we wanted," George shrugged putting his hands behind his head with a smirk.
"George, you know what Velvets' detentions are like. Do you want us to-oh, hey Harry" Fred stopped his sentence and greeted me as George looked at me as well. They both relaxed a bit, but I noticed the tension, "What'd you need?"
"I uh-heard the argument..." I mumbled, suddenly feeling very small. They're kind of scary when tense, "You two okay?"
"We're fine, Harryikins, small argument," Suddenly Fred looked around and raised an eyebrow, "Hey where's your other half's?"
I suddenly felt myself grow more irritated, "Being a couple." I did not mean for it to come out as bitter as it sounded. I just couldn't help it.
George caught on and raised his own eyebrow, so did Fred. However, George decided not to comment and keep quiet. Which was unusual, as they usually find themselves ending each other's sentences. Maybe this fight was a bit more than just George nearly being seen. Fred suddenly shot up when he saw some students coming out of the Great Hall.
"Oh, I'm supposed to meet Angela-"
"Freddy, you're supposed to help me make our latest batch of our bean-boozles," George interrupted, his voice sounded normal, more in a teasing like tone, and to the deaf ear, he would've sounded like himself. His face even held a playful smirk. However, I could hear the slightly irritated tone that was under the teasing one, and I saw his annoyed eyes. I knew Fred saw it too because he even looks irritated with his own twin. uh oh.
"Sorry George, I can't tonight." Fred's voice was kind of short like he wanted to end the conversation.
"How am I supposed to make enough of them by myself?" George asked, Uh oh, I think this is my cue to leave.
"You can do it, George. I'll help tomorrow!" Fred ruffled his brother's hair and then left quickly, George sighed and allowed himself to show his irritated look.
I glanced and noticed the loneliness in his eyes and I bit my lip. I knew that feeling too. The jealously when the person you always hang out with, your best friend, or in my case best friends, finally find someone and they slowly don't want to spend as much time with you anymore. Or they want some 'alone time' and leave you out. I think it's even worse when your best friend is dating your other best friend.
"So, Fred has a girlfriend, huh?" I ask and glance at George who looks surprised to hear my voice.
"Oh-uh-yeah...something like that, since we are technically adults, we are allowed to apparate whenever we want, we just can't be gone for more than two hours," George answered ina hallow voice.
"I knew that already. You never answered my question though," I pointed out as George looked at me with annoyance. That's a scary half-hearted glare...
He sighed, "He and Angela got back together during the summer. I-I, er, well, he-whatever Harry, go find Hermione and Ron."
I gave him my own half-hearted glare, but he obviously wasn't affected as much. "They're busy together-in the library."
George snickered as he shook his head, "Guess we both got ditched-"He froze mid-sentence, "Well I wouldn't call, Fred going on a date ditching exactly..."
I sighed and shoved him slightly before smiling, "Yeah. Your brother ditched you, but I mean he's in love, right? Can't get too jealous can we?"
George suddenly grew embarrassed, "I'm not jealous!"
"You sounded pretty jealous earlier, mate" I pointed out as he sighed and crossed his arms.
"Whatever-you're jealous..." He pouted and looked away, refusing to look me in the eye.
I laughed and grabbed his arm deciding that we were going to hang out. George gave me a confused look, but I said nothing as I led him to the Gryffindor common room. We were going to need a certain map.
Once we arrived in the common room, I let his arm go but I knew I peeked at his curiosity so I led him to my dorm room and he followed close behind. Not questioning anything he watched me open my dorm room door. Once inside I spotted Seamus and Dean who were talking and playing some game. They spotted me and raised an eyebrow when they saw George close behind.
"Uh, hey George?" Dean greeted awkwardly as George gave him a grin.
"Hey, Dean. Seamus. What're you up to?" He asked as he walked over, he leaned slightly so he could inspect the game better.
"Uh-some muggle game, right Dean?" Seamus questioned as Dean chuckled.
"Yeah, it's called Shoots and Ladders, what are you doing here George?" Dean questioned as George chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck.
"I'm not quite sure myself, what am I doing here Harry?" George asked as I dug through my chest and finally pulled out the map George and Fred gave me. I stuffed it in my back pocket as I walked back over.
"Just stopping by, alright, let's go!" I waved the two boys goodbye as they waved back, both giving me curious looks. George was trying his best to politely say goodbye, but he couldn't manage because just as quickly as we were in we were back out. I then pulled out the map and showed George who sighed.
"I solemnly swear, that I am up to no good" He rhymed as the map began to work its magic. "Okay, what's going on Harry?"
I smiled, "We are going to hang out for the night!" I began to pull his arm once again.
"We have school tomorrow! And I have work I need to get done," George mumbled. God, when did he sound like an actual adult?
I gave him a look of disbelief at the words that fell out of his mouth. So that's another big difference between them, huh. George gave me a confused look before he too realized what he just said. He began to laugh at the look on my face. I shook my head and lead him towards the front room.
"You really are responsible, huh" I joked as George chuckled.
"I sound like an old man, don't I?" He gave me one of his grins, and I felt my stomach flutter That's new.
"Yeah, maybe you need to loosen up..." I said as I glanced at the map and confirmed it was safe for us to move out. Hermione and Ron must be staying late or something because they're still in the-Oh, now I know what they're doing...
"Uh, Harry why do you look sick?" George asked as, concern on his face clear as day.
"Ron and Hermione are still in the library," I stated as George took less time than me to figure it out, and he too looked sick.
