Since he was little... his mother told him that all he has to do is wait, and that's what he did... This story begins with waiting... Their story begins with waiting for something to save their lives.
...
If he looks at the color of the sky, Felix knows that right now it's about five in the morning. The way that the usual blue colour combines with tints of pink, orange and yellow relaxes him in a way nothing can be able to. His mouth forms a sweet smile at the sight of birds flying above him as he looks at the moving clouds, laid down on the soft grass. His freckles are more noticeable today due to the etheral morning fog that surrounds the forest and leaves small drops of dew on each and every plant. It is pretty cold for a morning in June, but Felix doesn't mind.

He gets up, arranges his clothes a little bit, and inhales the fresh morning air again.

"Felix?" his mother, Adhara, opens the door quietly and calls for her son. "Why did you wake up early?" she takes a few steps, trying to keep her balance, but stops three feet away from the door and clears her throat. Felix turns around and looks at his mother. He talks with a smile on his face, scratching the back of his ear. "I couldn't help it mother, the nature was calling for me."

"Son, come inside

"Son, come inside. Mother will give you something to eat this morn-" Adhara isn't able to finish her words as a horrible and awful cough interrupts her. She grips her chest in a failed attempt to calm her coughing. Felix approaches her in a hurry. "Mother? What's wrong, mother?" he pats her back as the struggle becomes harder to bear. She falls on her knees, still coughing, trying to support her weak body with her thin, fragile hands. Felix panicks when he sees his mother in this state, but still tries to help her. He runs to the well, desperately pulls the ropes to get out the bucket full with cold water and quickly carries it to his mother. She immediately throws her hands inside the wooden bucket, forming a cup for the small quantity of water. She quickly puts it closer to her mouth and sips the water, still coughing from time to time.

Felix sprinkles a few drops of water on Adhara's face, trying to make her relax. "I got you mother!" He puts his hands once again in the ice cold water, then places it on his mother's forehead. "Mother... You're burning..." Felix supports his mother to help her get back on her feet and then uses his strength to lift her up. "Son, mother is heavy. Please, put me down." she talks in a weak, cracky voice. "No mother! I'm strong enough. Don't worry! Elara!" he calls for his step sister. As he approaches the door, Elara exits the house in a rush, with a sleepy face. She has her ginger hair tied up in a bun, with loose strands framing her white face. Her soft, rosy lips contrast the pale skin and her green eyes are enlightened by the morning dew. She wears Felix's striped shirt like a nightgown as it reaches above her knees, covering her thighs.
