24 hours earlier...
"My head hurts." I groan as I make my way into the bright sunlit kitchen.
"That's what drinking with V does to you." Christian says as he sips his coffee.
A house maid slides me over a warm cup of coffee, and I nod at her gratefully. I sit next to Christian at the kitchen island. My eyes scan the beautiful scenery before me. Just outside the glass, sliding doors laid the city of Las Vegas.
Since the Vitali estate rests upon high land in the middle of nowhere, I can look down and see the strip.
"Where's Zero?" I ask as I glance at Christian.
He shrugs a frustrated look cascading down on his face, "I don't know. He's the barbaric type."
"What do you mean?" I ask and Christian sighs setting his cup down.
"Do you trust him?" He asks as his eyes lock with mine and his voice lowered.
"I only trust two people. And they're not here." I answered without skipping a beat.
"Watch him." Christian says before going quiet indicating that, that was the end of the conversation.
As the saying go, speak of them and they will appear. With a loud yawn, Zero walks in shirtless exposing all his tattoos. My eyes wander on a a particular tattoo. A naked woman burning in hellfire, flames sat on his torso.
I always try to decipher the meaning of each of his tattoos. Sometimes I feel like I understand him more. But then again it's just a dead end.
"Morning dolcezza." Zero says walking up to me.
I can sense Christian tense next to me, but I play it cool and roll my eyes.
"I'm not a sweetheart, far from it, and you know it." I state glaring at him.
His smirk goes unnoticed as I roll my eyes.
"Where did you sleep last night?" I ask as he takes a seat next to me.
"Some place." He answers shrugging causing me to analyze his body language.
He's calm, almost nonchalant-like. He grabs the coffee mug the housemaid hands him smoothly, before taking a sip. He's calm, but something is off.
"I'm going to go over the plan for today. Meet me in the conference room." I order before walking away.
As I exit the kitchen I hear Zero snort, and I roll my eyes at his behavior.
The sound of a piano fills my ears, and my interest peaks. I follow the sound to a empty room with only a piano and Val in it.
"Is it love when so easily said goodbye? Is it love when we've given up before we tried? Is it love when you stole my peace of mind? Is it love when you cry, and cry and cry?" Val sings softly as her fingers press the keys of the piano.
