Roman woke me up right on time. I quickly hopped in the shower, with my hair up so it wouldn't get wet. I quickly got ready. I put half of my hair up, tying it in a bun and bput the curlers on the bottom half. I never really used curlers. Roman was in the bathroom, next to me doing his hair. He had a black button up, and a black suede jacket over it, black dress pants, and classic black dress shoes.
"A curling iron would have been better." I said trying to figure out the curlers.
"So you can burn me and then run out."
"Who said I would burn you? I would probably tie it around your neck, killing you for a brief moment, giving me a head start." I finally was able to put a curler in my hair.
"Bet you have Shane on board."
"Maybe." I got another curler in my hair.
At that very moment he grabbed the bag of curlers and through it across the room. Granted the room wasn't very big. I knew I was supposed to be scared. Is it wrong that I saw it coming? It was his strigoi side, something the ring wasn't hiding. He was jealous about Shane, also something his strigoi side couldn't hide, it just heightened his feelings.
I just looked at him, not saying anything. I looked at him, trying to find something that reminded me of the Roman I knew. He was just waiting for me to say something. But I couldn't. I wasn't scared of him, I was scared of what the strigoi in him could do.
He just got closer. I had to fight every insicint in my body not to knee him and run. I just looked into his red strigoi eyes, not being able to look away. I was utterly and completely mesmerized. I started to breathe heavily wanting to be saved.
"The car is here." Shane peered his head into the bathroom, walking back out as soon as he said it.
Roman stumbled back. I caught his arm. I didn't know why I just did. I want my Roman back. I didn't want this strigoi version of him.
"Come on princess, everything is going to be okay." He walked out.
I took the curlers out, letting the rest of my hair down, tucking it behind my ears. I quickly ran around the hotel looking for my duster, not knowing where Roman put it. I found it in the closet and put it on. I ran out surprised Shane was even going to go with us.
It was one of the only times I've been out of the hotel room. The only other time was when I first came here, which was kinda a blur. The city was beautiful and alive. It was hard to get through by car, as the city was truly alive. People were all over the streets, drinking, partying, having the time of their lives. We were in the busiest part of the city, the French Quarter. Pictures didn't do it justice. We parked the car in an alley.
We walked into a hotel, one that wasn't as big as the one we were staying at, but it was just as nice. Strigoi were everywhere. They're red eyes beamed, staring at me, hoping I was going to be their next meal. I tried not to look scared, but it was like they were able to smell the fear.
Shane led us to a banquet hall. It wasn't fancy. It looked like a club you would see in movies. It was dimmed, the only real lighting would be from the lights a DJ uses. There were half naked women dancing, the only humans here. I stopped to look at one, and quickly spotted bite marks all over her body. I wondered if this is where Roman was last night. It was perfect, humans, and no windows, closing the door wouldn't let sunlight in, actually it was deep in the hotel, it was nearly impossible for any real sunlight to creep in. Plus this was right in the middle of all the action, which meant tourist, and in strigoi it meant food. I found myself in a booth, away from the dance floor, the humans. It was quiet compared to the other parts of the room. This is where they conduct business.
