the beach was reggie's safe place since he was eleven. he went there anytime he would hear his parents fighting, or just arguing about something stupid, just ignoring the drama.

he used to sit on the sand, close his eyes and listen to the beautiful sound of the ocean. he didn't want anyone around, beside maybe, someone special. his best friend, luke.

«reginald? what are you doing here? its
late!» the brunette asked, hiding his hands
in his pockets, getting the other to turn,
facing him. «i could ask you the same thing..»
the thirteen year old said, standing up and getting sand off his pants.

«what happened, bug?» the curious boy insisted, getting closer to his friend and trying to make eye contact with him. «nothing happened, my mom found out i got an F in
that damn chemistry test, and just got mad» reggie claimed, looking down at his shoes.

the brown eyed boy finally decided to look
up at the other, revealing something that
made the one with green eyes very upset.
«i-is that a scar? they hurt you, didn't they?
i swear to god, i'm gonna kick their ass if they
do this one more time» luke yelled, gently touching his best friend's face.

reggie quicky pulled away his hand, and instantly regretted it. «i-i'm so sorry.. i just wanna go home» he mumbled, while tears started coming down his cheeks. «that's not your home anymore, if they hurt you, they don't love you reg..» luke said, getting even closer and pulling him into a tight hug.

the shorter one asked the other if he wanted to spend the night at his place, and he agreed.
they shared luke's bed, without telling emily and mitch, cause they would've called reggie's parents. right when they got in the boy's bedroom, the owner of the house, offered his friend a shower, and new clothes that didn't have sand everywhere. reggie took a quick shower and went to bed, trying not to think about what happened earlier or what could've happened the following day. he just fell asleep, right next to luke, facing the door.

julie was laying on her bed listening to music, actually, singing along to some melodies without anyone bothering. she had just finished homework, and it was about to be dinner time. the curly haired girl decided to
go downstairs and check on the guys, she was wondering if alex came back from his date.

«guysss! what's up?» jules yelled walking down the stairs. luke was writing something on his precious notebook, and alex was just laying on the couch, probably still thinking about willie.

«julie freakin molina, i couldn't wait any longer for you to come down! the date was amazing, and willie loved my outfit, so um, thank you!» alex said, running to hug his bestie, who obviously hugged him back, smiling.

«i'm so glad he liked it! i guess that means i'm a very good stylist, right?» they both burst out laughing, but luke wasn't paying attention.

he was in his own world, thinking about whatever crossed his mind. everytime he closed his eyes, the only thing that popped up was reggie. the voice inside his head kept repeating his name. reggie reggie reggie reggie reggie..
the brown haired boy couldn't help but see him. he was wondering why, though.

they've been best friends since middle school, since the day luke sat right next to reggie at lunch, cause he didn't want to leave the poor boy alone. he asked the new kid if he wanted company, and he accepted.

reggie was luke's first close friend, they
were just like brothers. they shared beds, couches, went to the bathroom together,
and also went on vacation with their families. since they didn't live that close, they bought eachother two walkie-talkies, to speak to one another without having to meet. that was a pretty smart move, it was luke's idea. they probably still have those toys, but haven't
used them in ages.

«luke? are you there? earth to lucas?»
alex breaks the awkward silence in the room, snapping his fingers in front of his friend's face. the other noddded, getting out of his trance.he looked at both julie and alex and stood up. «i think i need to go for a walk»
luke says, not looking at them in the eyes.
he bugged out, and as soon as he left the basement, someone's voice stopped him
from walking.

«goddamn, it's late, i'm gonna introduce
you next time, alright?» that voice asked to another. the girl nodded and left a kiss on reggie's cheek, who blushed a little. «bye, crackhead!» she shouted, getting back on
her skateboard heading home.

«luke? hi?» reggie asked, approaching his friend, who was still in front of the shed door.
they smiled at eachother, and got closer.
«w-where have you been all day? it's basically dinner time and you left, precisely, at 3 pm..» luke claimed, looking up and down at the other. «i'm sorry, i should have came back sooner but, at least, i made a new friend!
their name's alex, and she's honestly great! she's a ghost, that's why she could see me!»

luke instantly giggled at the way reggie talked, just the way reg was so excited about a new friend, made him soft. «so, how did you meet her?» the shorter one asked, sitting on the bench that was in front of the garage door.
the blue eyed one explained how he and his new friend met, getting all of luke's attention.

«they seem pretty cool, i'd really like to get to know her, you know?» luke said, staring into reggie's deep gorgeous eyes, until something made him stop. «yeah, i kinda like her»

«you do?»
