It has just this moment, as I am putting my shoes on, occurred to me that I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do on a movie set when I'm not even in the movie. Really thought this through didn't I? I don't think they even have any extras in this film. I suppose I could always make drinks for people, like the trolley lady in 'Harry Potter'. Or I could-
My thoughts were rudely interrupted by Corey roughly shaking my shoulder, looking quite scared. "Y/n, I can't do this." he said.
"What? You can't tie your laces? It's easy, look I'll show you. You just take one lace and-"
"No, not my laces. This. The movie, I can't do it, I can't be in it. I'm...I'm scared."
I squeezed his hand, "Corey, you've been in movies before. Why are you so scared about this one?"
"Well, because this one could be big, apparently. And what if I'm no good at it? What if I get famous, but only because the movie was so awful? Or what if I just freeze right when I'm about to speak? It's happened before."
"Corey. Corey, you're going to be fine, ok? Trust me, you're a good actor. Think about the other actors who are going to be in it, they're good right? And Steven Spielberg is a good screenwriter. So it won't be awful, and if you get nervous and can't say your lines then that's why they do multiple takes on one scene isn't it? Trust me, it'll be fine." I told him. I was feeling kind of adventurous, so I reached up and kissed him quickly on the cheek. Did I immediately regret it? Yeah. But then I noticed that he was blushing, so maybe there's hope after all.
"Thanks Y/n." he mumbled, looking a little less nervous.
"You're welcome, it's what I'm here for isn't it?" I grinned.Anyway, Corey and I had to get a taxi to the set by ourselves because, even though Corey's mom makes such a big deal about these things, she never actually wants to take him herself because apparently the sets are always 'too loud'. Makes perfect sense.
(A/N: I doubt this is true, I'm just putting it in here)
The taxi ride was quiet, Corey was still a little nervous, and I had my earphones in. To be honest, I was starting to get a little nervous too, and I wasn't even in the movie. I just didn't want it to seem like I was totally useless, I wanted to have a job onset.By the time we got to where 'The Goonies' was going to be filmed, Corey was so nervous that he wouldn't get out of the taxi. I ended up having to half-drag him out. "Come on! You're gonna be fine!" I told him when I finally got him out. Corey just nodded.
An assistant director met with us and told Corey where he needed to be, at what time, blah blah blah. She told Corey that he needed to go to makeup, and just let me tag along with him, since I still had absolutely no idea what I was going to do. When we were in the makeup department, the makeup artist sat Corey down and started applying makeup to his face.
"How did you do that?" she asked, pointing to the bruises on his face. Corey's eyes widened and he went red. "I just...I ran into a door." he mumbled and the lady shrugged and carried on doing his makeup. When she was almost done, she put the brush down.
"Hold on one second, I really have to use the bathroom." she said, she left the room and I turned to Corey. "Ok come on, tell me what happened with your mom."
Corey looked at the floor, "Ok." he whispered. "So...when you left, and when I got home, I...I told my mom that you were coming and sh-she didn't like that so she just kind of...y'know..." he mumbled. I gently took his hand, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have been selfish and made you let me come with you. I should've known." I said, suddenly feeling guilty.
"No! It wasn't your fault, I told you! It's her fault. A normal mom wouldn't do this, a normal mom wouldn't force her kid to act, a normal mom would actually love her kid..." I could see tears sliding down Corey's face and I went to give him a hug. This makeup artist sure was taking a long time going to the bathroom.
"You'll smudge all your makeup." I smiled, wiping his tears away. "Come on, don't cry. It won't be forever I promise." Corey nodded and wiped his eyes and then, oh so conveniently, the makeup artist came back.
"Sorry about that, what did I miss?" she asked, smiling. Me and Corey just looked at each other, grinning.
