Ice cream with Sam

Ice cream was my first love, it's the one thing in the world that I love more than Corey (but he has the sense not to be jealous of a dairy product). I always have and always will love ice cream, I do not, however, love ice cream when I have to eat it in the presence of Samantha Houser. Not only did I have to go get ice cream with her, but I had to spend a whole day with her. Apparently she thought it would be a better chance for us to get to know each other more.

Corey was in my hotel room again, Corey H's dad had gone away for a couple of weeks to look after Corey H's grandmother, who was sick. Corey H couldn't stay in the apartment by himself, so Corey had let him stay in his hotel room and he was staying with me in my room. I complained a little, but we both knew I was actually pleased. This morning, I had to leave to meet Sam at 8am because she wanted to get to a clothes store at the mall (Rave) before it opened. I had no idea why I'd agreed to this, I had to get up at 7am, just to meet this two-faced cow.
"I'll miss you." Corey mumbled, still half asleep, when I got out of bed and started to get dressed.
"I'm literally going to see you later today."
"I know, I'll still miss you though."
"I'll miss you too." I said, bending down to kiss his forehead. Corey smiled, turned over and went back to sleep, lucky. I finished getting dressed, and headed out the door.
Corey H came out of his room, his hair messy from being asleep, and with no shirt on.
"Y/n! You going to meet Sam?" he whispered.
"Unfortunately."
"Ok, well just make sure you don't show that you're kinda threatened by her."
"I am not-"
"Yes. You are. Otherwise you wouldn't have agreed to this. Now just make sure you make it seem like you like her, and you should be fine, ok?"
"Yeah, ok. Thanks for this." I said, I gave Corey H a quick hug.
"You're welcome, now go." He pushed me off him and went back into his room. I quickly went off down the corridor.

When I got to the mall, Sam was waiting for me outside Rave. She was wearing high-waisted jeans and a pale pink sweater with her blonde hair in a loose braid. I was wearing skinny jeans and a flannel shirt with my hair loose, Samantha looked me up and down when I approached her.
"Hiiii!" she squealed, "Wow, I wish I had the confidence to wear something as simple as that in public."
It's gonna be a long day.
I put on the fake smile I was most likely going to be wearing all day, "Hi Sam, I really love your sweater." it was a nice sweater.
"Thank you! It was so expensive."
"I bet it was."
Soon enough, Rave  opened and we went inside. Samantha instantly started choosing clothes, picking them out and examining them closely, before deeming whether or not they were up to her standards. "I think you'd look really cute in this." she said, thrusting a hideous pink denim jacket at me. "Yeah, no I'm...I'm good thanks." I said, hanging it back up.
"Oh that's a shame, you look like you could do with some new clothes."
"Yeah well, this kinda thing just isn't what I'd usually wear."
"I can tell, no problem though, maybe I can improve your style." she said, smiling that overly sweet smile of hers.
This sort of thing went on for a while, until after about two and a half hours of looking around other clothes shops, I suggested we go get ice cream. I was going to need lots of it if I was going to be putting up with Samantha all day.

We went to the floor of the mall that the ice cream place was on, and sat down in a booth to choose what we wanted. Sam chose pink bubblegum, of course. I think this girl's personality consists of pink, clothes, pink, stealing my boyfriend, and pink. I chose cookie dough, because my taste is superior.
"So you and Corey have been dating for 2 years?" she asked, when we had our ice cream.
I nodded, "Yep."
"You really think it'll last?"
"Excuse me?"
"Well, I mean, you don't really seem like his type, no offence."
"And what exactly is his type?"
"Ok, well maybe I don't know what his personal type is. But you know, people like him, teen stars I mean, tend to go for someone a little more...stylish, and...blonde...like me."
What is it with people preferring blondes? And did she just suggest that I'm not stylish? And that Corey would choose her over me?
(A/N: If you are blonde, just pretend you're not while you read that part, sorry!)
"Yeah, well maybe people like him would go for someone like that. But I know Corey, and I don't think that's his type." I said, folding my arms.
"Well we'll just have to wait and see, maybe one day I'll be in your position." Samantha said, passing it off as a joke and giggling. I laughed along too, pretending I didn't want to throw her to the sharks.

"Anyway, what makes you like Corey?" I asked, much later on, when we were on the boardwalk.
"What do you mean?"
"Well I'd have thought that you'd prefer Corey H, him being blonde and all that."
"I saw him when he was in 'The Goonies' and I thought he was cute. Yeah Corey H is cute too, I did actually try to tell Corey yesterday that he'd look better if he dyed his hair blonde."
Unbelievable.
"Well I think he looks good how he is."
"Yeah of course, he'd just look better blonde, and with blue eyes, don't you think?"
I don't have the energy to argue with her.
"I don't know...maybe." I shrugged, I wished this day would hurry up and end already.
"You should let me take you to get your nails done sometime." Sam said, she'd taken my hand and was examining my nails, which up until then, I'd thought were perfectly fine. I was about to refuse, but I remembered what Corey H had said about keeping her busy, and now she was making the offer, which was even better.
"Yeah, yeah I'd like that. How about Tuesday? I don't have to be in work then." I suggested. Tuesday was the day after tomorrow, and I'd been looking forward to do doing absolutely nothing, but I supposed I could sacrifice that.
"Tuesday's good. The sooner the better I think, your nails aren't the best are they?" Sam chuckled.
"No, they're not." I said, my smile becoming increasingly forced. "I should go back now anyway, see you on Tuesday." I quickly snatched my hand away.
"Ok, bye Y/n!" Samantha smiled, waving as I set off down the boardwalk. I did it, I made it through the day. Now I had to make it through Tuesday.

When I got back, Corey was in our room, on the bed, watching TV. I flopped down beside him.
"How'd it go?" he asked.
"It was fine, I'm just glad to be back." I said, putting my arms around him and hugging him.
Corey H came into the room, "Hey Corey, someone's on the phone for you." he said, Corey got up and went to get the phone, and Corey H sat down beside him.
"Who's on the phone?" I asked.
"It's Sam, she said she had something to tell Corey."
"And you let her?!"
"Chill out, she just said it was about 'The Lost Boys' one of her friends wants to see it when it comes out or whatever. Anyway, how was it?"
"Exhausting. I never knew smiling could be so forced, I have to go get my nails done with her on Tuesday as well."
"Nice work." Corey H put up his palm for me to high five him, which I did.
"Hey, why can't you keep her busy? You hate her less than I do."
"I wouldn't count on it, and besides, I'm not into getting my nails done." Corey H smirked, I whacked him hard with a pillow.

Tuesday here I come.
