Everyone told me that adulthood would be cruel
It is.
But they forgot to mention that it can be kind
In a way that the world of children never can be.
With the added pressure, stress, anxiety and responsibility
comes Freedom.
To do as you like.
Dress as you like.
Think as you like.
And believe what you want to believe.
Everyone told me that adulthood would be cruel
It is.
It's nothing like emerging a butterfly
Instead, its being in a cocoon a little bit longer
Evolving, Changing, Becoming
No longer helpless, controlled, or voiceless.
It burns and aches. Always painful.
Change may be nature
But it has never come gentle
We remember childhood through rose coloured glasses.
Remember the good
Forget the bad.
Romanticizing naivety.
And that's alright.
Everyone told me that adulthood would be cruel
It is.
But that's how I know its real
In my experience,
Anything that comes easy is always too good to be true.
A high cost has always been the price for permanent.
And I will pay
Because with stress, pressure, anxiety, and responsibility
comes Freedom.
