Chapter 18

It was around 5:30 in the morning when Brian stirred awake. Rachel was still sleeping soundly on his chest, her breathing steady and calm. He laid there for a few minutes more just listening to her breathe and enjoying the peacefulness of the moment. He loved moments like these. His eyelids began to drop once again as the quiet lulled him back into slumber. But he quickly caught himself and turned to glance at the clock. As much as he wanted to stay in this bed cuddled up with Rachel, he knew he had to sneak back into the guest room before Kassi awoke.

As carefully as he could he removed himself from Rachel's grasp and carefully laid her back onto the mattress. He tucked her back in under the covers to make sure she was warm enough and kissed her head before slipping out of the room.

A few hours after Brian had fallen back asleep in the guest room he heard the creak of the door followed by tiny footsteps. He pried his eyes opened and smiled when he noticed a messy mop of light brown hair make its way towards the bed. Kassi climbed up onto the mattress and crawled under the covers, immediately cuddling up with Brian.

"Morning baby." Brian mumbled, his voice scratchy and groggy.

"Morning daddy." She whispered and closed her eyes as Brian wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close against his chest.

The two fell instantly back asleep. About an hour later Brian was woken up by the mattress shaking. He opened his eyes and came face to face with the source of the shakes, locking eyes with a smiling Kassi.

"Daddy, come on wake up!" She giggled yanking the blanket off of him. She kept jumping up and down and suddenly tumbled a little, falling back onto the mattress giving Brian the perfect opportunity. He rolled overtop of her, hovering on his elbows to make sure he didn't put any weight on her. He kept her pinned beneath him sending her into a laughing fit. "Let me up!" She kept laughing.

"Five more minutes." Brian mumbled.

"No." Kassi whined. "Get up now!"

"Alright, alright." He relented standing up and slipping on one of his robes. "Come on." He said, playfully lifting her over his shoulder and carrying her downstairs.

Not long after Brian and Kassi made their way downstairs, Rachel woke up too. She greeted Kassi who was watching tv with the cats then wandered to the kitchen where Brian was. His back was to her as he washed the dishes and he still hadn't noticed her. She quickly made sure Kassi wasn't near and came up behind him, wrapping her arms around his torso. He jumped a little until he realized what was happening.

"Good morning sexy." Brian grinned turning around in her grasp.

"Morning handsome." Rachel smiled and leaned into Brian's kiss.

"Mmm..." Brian moaned into it bringing his hands up to cup her jaw. Their lips finally parted after a few seconds more and Brian couldn't help but smile. "God you're such a good fucking kisser." He muttered and connected their lips once again, but not as long this time.

"You gotta get dressed. You have a doctors appointment in an hour." Rachel reminded.

Brian groaned and dropped his head onto her shoulder, burying his face into her soft cotton shirt wishing he could hide there forever.

"I hate going to the doctor." His voice muffled from the material of her shirt.

Rachel smiled deviously and grabbed his face with both hands, leaning in close to his lips, but not letting them touch.

"Then I guess I'll just have to make it up to you tonight." She whispered seductively making his eyes widen with desire.

He closed his eyes leaned in to kiss her but ended up confused when he was met with nothing. When he opened his eyes Rachel was smirking having obviously pulled away and began walking into the living room.
